Ravens Vs. Jaguars: Sports Science to do Monday Night Intro

With the canning of Hank Williams Jr. and the "Are you ready for some football?" song and dance, ESPN has been left trying to figure out what exactly to do for their Monday Night Football intros. Two weeks ago, ESPN had former Detroit Lions running back and Hall of Fame inductee Barry Sanders do a monologue and last week, legendary New York Jets fan Fireman Ed did a monlogue. So, what on Earth could they be planning on doing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night?

Sports Science.

According to Bill Hofheimer of ESPN, there will be a special Sports Science episode that centers around Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Ravens running back Ray Rice. What it's about, I have no idea. I mean, I do have an idea of what it could be about, but what do you guys think it will be about?

@tealtalk at start of ESPN's #MNF telecast we will have @sport_science piece on RBs @Jones_Drew32 and @rayrice27. Will be good.

The mind blowing phenomenon of how it’s possible to be a running back AND be under 5’7". Just truly hard to imagine how are they successful.

by Ratmfoo on Oct 21, 2011 7:33 PM EDT reply actions

Being 5'7"

Isn’t a hindrance

Being able to pack 200 pounds onto that frame and maintain speed is impressive, but the lack of height is an advantage in some critical respects

The new MNF intros are stupid...and getting stupider every week.

Just get HWJ back. We know he’s a redneck, we’re over it.

Just don't do an intro

I don’t need something to pump me up for the game. Just play a little tone and show two helmets crashing into each other like they used to do a long time ago.

Cmon Man

What do you expect when a Redneck gets on tv? He’s probably gonna say something stupid and FOX News knew that when they scheduled him to be on. I’m just glad i’ll be at the game and wont have to see what they put on

I'd imagine center of gravity and how they are so explosive and hard to tackle.

They should do the Beer commercials again...

Well I think it was a beer commercial when they sang “I love football, beer, and twins!”…lol I think thats how it went…can someone correct me?

by Jags85 on Oct 21, 2011 8:54 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

I don't watch ESPN anymore!

I refuse to support a media outlet that suppresses free speech! I am glad that Ch4 is showing the Jags game, otherwise, I wouldn’t see it! I will NEVER watch MNF again if I have to watch it on ESPN!

Call it whatever you want, but I have a strong constitution and will stick to my guns even if it hurts!!! We need MORE Americans that will actually stand up for what they believe in!! I haven’t watched MNF in 3 weeks now.

by Tab Opo on Oct 21, 2011 9:56 PM EDT reply actions

So what you’re saying is… you don’t actually understand what “Freedom of Speech” is at all?

Channel 4 is just showing the ESPN feed, so you’re still watching ESPN.

by Alfie Crow on Oct 21, 2011 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks!

Then I won’t watch. I understood the feed, but I thought Ch4 got the ratings… not ESPN. Guess I’ll be cheching the score online as I have for the last 3 weeks….

So, you’re serious?

That’s some impressive dedication for completely not understanding the first amendment.

by Alfie Crow on Oct 21, 2011 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions

So, you’re serious?

YEP!

And, I understand all I need to about what they did to HWJ. They fired him for what he said. That’s all I need to know about it. Sorry, I’m not allowed to talk politics on this board, so, that’s all I have to say about that…

The First Amendment only protects your right to free speech from the government. Meaning the government can’t arrest you for what you say about its leaders.

As far as protecting your speech from employers? Nope.

Corporations are legally allowed to react to something you’ve said, including probation, demotion, pay-cuts, and even termination.

And, I am legally allowed to not watch their channel anymore….

In fact, since Disney owns ESPN, I have canceled a family trip to Disney world later this year and demanded my money back. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything!!

yeah

I’m sure Disney will be begging for his money..

You have an issue with censorship

not a first amendment issue. If you think Bocephus is right, more power to you. Good for you for following through based on your beliefs. It’s just that it’s a censorship issue. And he is a moron.

Right, a private corporation fired an employee for making a controversial public statement.

That does not violate the first amendment at all.

Here's a different idea.

If you so desperately want to keep up with the game…. Buy tickets.

Here we go again

This guy has posted this very same diatribe on the T-U site as ‘GM1’, and on jaguars.com as ‘billstopay’. Apparently he wants everyone to know that he has crushed his family’s excited anticipation of a Disney vacation because of his petty and irrelevant First Amendment beef with a sports network. Father of the Year.

by homebiscuit on Oct 22, 2011 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions

wonder if he was planning to go to Disney during Gay Week
