WR Need: Patience is a Virtue
We all know how badly we need help at WR. Of course, MSW has re-joined the ranks, so we should be set at the position long-term...
Okay, just in case that doesn't work out. I thought Mocking the Draft gave us some words of encouragement:
The 2012 NFL Draft looks to be absolutely loaded with quality receiving prospects. Alshon Jeffery, Michael Floyd, Justin Blackmon, Ryan Broyles, Jeff Fuller and Juron Criner are all 1st round possibilities at this point and a few other guys should earn Day One consideration by the time April rolls around. While it's unlikely that all the top underclassmen will declare, there should be enough to make 2012 one of the deepest WR groups in history
Looking at this list, I get the feeling Gene (if he survives the guillotine) might wait until round 2 for a WR. I am really not familiar with some of these prospects. But, if there are good lookers in round 2, I think he will take the chance there and not in the 1st.
What do you think?

This is gonna sound crazy
But I think they might go WR in the 1st and the 2nd. If they have a chance at Blackmon or Jeffery, I think they take them and in the 2nd, guys like Sanu, Belcher or Criner have the chance to fall to them also.

I doubt it.
We still have too many holes on this team to go receiver in first and second round. We still need depth at the LB and OL positions.
When the O-line healthy its pretty good
I think the talent is there, they just have to get healthy and play together more without all of the shuffling around. As far as depth goes they have Spitz. Bradfield played well last game. But you could always use another good lineman.
LB, I think they will take somebody later on (unless there is someone they can’t pass on early).

Yeah...
if Bradfield can come in and take over one the tackle spots, it won’t be as urgent. Someone already on the team will probably replace Meester, so we probably won’t need a center either. Honestly, I can’t say what will happen in the draft. I’m not going to say it’s completely impossible just highly improbable.
Yeah it might not happen
But I think turning the reciever position into a strength would help out Gabbert’s development alot

I think its possible
This draft is full of good WR…could be a good way to put a good group is this team…
Ohhhh the draft….its so funnnn…
I'd be 100% surprised if the new head coach doesn't get his WR in round one
I think we’re going to be drafting either Blackmon or Jeffery in round one and I also do not expect Gene Smith to be back next year as GM.
If they have a shot at Blackmon or Jeffrey, they need to take it.
Some round 2 guys could be guys like UNC Dwight Jones, Iowa’s Marvin McNutt, Illinois’ A.J. Wright (if he leaves), Juron Criner from ’Zona, Manu from Rutgers.
They should come away with 2 WR’s in this draft, at least.
We need talent in the Wr corps
I can see two wrs, we used to draft the same position twice (monroe and Britton, smith and alualu). If not WR and WR in the 1st and 2nd, then maybe a DE or offensive lineman

I think you mean A.J. Jenkins from Illinois
And he is a senior, so he is coming out

Who do you take at #3 overall?
I realize that we need a WR, but is there an impact player who isnt a WR? I know it seems to be the position of greatest need at the moment. If Balckmon and Jeffrey are just as good at 3 then im down for it. Just appears we need help at DE still and dont even get me started on the OL at this point. I still am from the school of thought that it doesnt matter who you have at WR, if your QB is on his ass, or is running for his life. Everyone have fun, and be safe at the game tonight!
I’m not sure if there is a DE or CB worth taking 3 overall. I wouldn’t be upset with another OT, but fans would riot if they did that.
When healthy I really don’t think the OL is that bad. It could be improved certainly.
You cant ever have too many linemen...
If you pick 3rd overall, but better be picking a guy whos a serious baller, no matter what position he plays

What about Quentin Coples?
Someone think he’ll free fall in draft day or he is the next Julius Peppers like some like to say? To me he doesnt appears to be a premier pass rusher…
I liked Clayborn in last draft...
Not worth top 5 pick though. I think this draft doesn’t have a premier DE or DT, so Jaguars pick will be limited to WR or OT…maybe Trent Richardson??wouldn’t it be cool?
#3 overall?
Is that where you think the Jags will pick? How so? When there are still 3 other winless teams out there in the Rams, Colts and Dolphins.
I had to think about this one
I think the Jags’ immediate needs are OG/C and WR. A DE would improve the team, but for a top ten pick, I think you gotta take the surest thing regardless of position.
My thought is that that’s probably that’s going to be a WR, even though I’m not a big fan of 1st round WRs bc they can’t do it without a QB. I said first round.

No, it was a very open WR burn.
I think 99% of WRs are replaceable.

That was the nature of this post
Do we think Gene has the same mindset? For some reason I think he does.
