Gene Frenette of the Florida Times Union

In the article Grading the Jaguars Gene had this to say:

"Coaching

C: A 13-point loss at home and the offense repeatedly stalling in the second half despite favorable field position suggests the game plan was faulty. Sorry, not the case. The Jaguars' problem this week was much more about lack of execution than play-calling. The Saints are far more suspect against the pass than the run, and the Jaguars planned accordingly. Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter put a heavy load on Gabbert's shoulders and he has to learn to execute the strategy. The defense played well after a shaky start."

And you know what, I agree 110%. I know everyone doesn't love Del Rio (and I'd be the first to blame him when it's his or Koettler's fault but this game doesn't fall on their shoulders. I don't have much of a problem with the gameplan honestly: It's likely that the coaching staff believed that the saints would score more than they did a pretty legitimate assumption seeing how their offense was moving the ball at will on our D (our D bent but didn’t break all game but anyone here would be a bold faced liar if they weren’t thinking at one point or another that it was only a matter of time)… the Saints definitely moved the ball at will. NO ONE would be complaining had those overthrows (around 7-8) and those dropped passes (around 8-9) not taken place. That’s the difference between 15-17 more completions, a Jason Hill TD, a Mercedes Lewis TD, etc….all of a sudden 16-42 becomes 31/33-42 and two TDs for our passing offense. Again, I say the game plan wasn’t the issue. The execution was. In the words of the great Vic K, “just win baby.” If those plays are executed properly (passes caught, overthrows put on the money) everyone would be praising the freakin balls behind the game plan and we’d actually have a legitimate chance of winning that game. Is anything I stated here incorrect? Then wtf are we complaining about? BLAME THE PLAYERS!!
