Eugene Monroe was told to gain weight
In preseason there was speculation that the weight lost by offensive tackle Eugene Monroe in an attempt to be leaner and more athletic had in fact made him lose the power necessary to be a strong tackle. It appears as though the Jaguars felt that way too, as they reportedly told Monroe to pack on the pounds. As Mark Long of the Associated Press noted, Monroe has gotten himself back over the 300 pounds mark.
Monroe has had a strong start to the 2011 season prior to a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the large majority of the game against the Saints. He returned to practice today, taking reps at left tackle.
