pointless stat.
Screens only work if you throw them rarely. If you start throwing screens a lot, they start going for minus four or five yards a pop.
The more important part of this article is that he’s 50% on short passes. Most QBs hang out around 70% or so.

One thing I do know about those screen stats
is that they are not accurate in terms of effectiveness. First of all, I’ve seen screens setup that never made it to the stats column because Gabbert threw the ball away when he had pressure in his face. There is at least one example of that in our last game against the Texans where there was a screen setup for Lewis and Gabbert just threw the ball away.
People know we want to throw screens, and a screen is easy to complete if you can surprise people, but it’s one of the worst plays to run if they know it’s coming.
I agree. Now I need your input on....
Why do you think our defense seemed to have been beat badly time and time again during some games by these types of plays? Bad coaching? Players stuck in deep mud?
