Is Mathis done as a Jaguar?
Who thinks that was Rashean Mathis' last game as a Jag? I kind of do.
Gene has been known to make the team younger and the upcoming draft appears to have a lot of secondary depth (not to mention our roster itself with coleman, middleton, and cox. not a comment on their current quality just on our depth).
He's having a good year, his first healthy one in a while, but now he's 32 and suffering from an injury from which a lot of athletes never return. Not only could that have been his last game as a Jag, it could have been his last professional game ever. Who would give him a contract?

Short answer: No he's not done as a Jaguars
Long answer: Assuming Gene Smith is back, Mathis makes the secondary better. I don’t see him asking for money that the Jags would balk at for a player of his caliber. He’s still one of the most productive members of our secondary despite what talk radio has said about him.
I hope he's not done
I would sign him to a 2 year deal and start him on PUP. Secondary injuries are bound to happen next year too.
I say he is finished as a Jag.
No matter who is GM or coach, unless he signs cheap after testing the waters I don’t see him staying a Jag.
I envision a draft in which CB is a top priority now.
He might be finished as a Jag but
it is definitely not his last game as an NFL player. He will get picked up elsewhere. Teams that comes to mind are the Lions and Patriots.
Can't stand the truth?
Mathis we be back...
2 year, $10M… Its not a major knee injury, i dont think. Torn ACL’s are like catching “colds” too these guys. I hope he is brought back. Mathis is one of my fav Jags. The team at least should honor that with the respect that he was playing pretty damn good before the injury. Wayne had like 2 catches on the guy.

Hopefully
They bring him back. I like to think that his value hasn’t diminished enough and I think that he will be brought back cheap because of the injury.
