Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Alshon Jeffery?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Peter-Schrager-Midseason-NFL-Mock-Draft-111411

9: Jacksonville Jaguars: Alshon Jeffery, WR South Carolina: How desperate are the Jaguars for receiver help? They had to bring back Mike Sims-Walker, a player the lowly Rams released after a few weeks on the team, before he was put on IR.

Mike Thomas is a fine undersized slot guy, but Blaine Gabbert needs a No. 1 guy to grow old with.

Jeffery, a player I might like even more than Blackmon as an NFL prospect, would be a mighty nice get for Jacksonville at ninth overall.

I would obviously prefer Blackmon, hes the closest thing to a sure thing stud receiver..

He looks like a Larry Fitzgerald type..he simply makes plays..

jeffery is a bigger body, harder to bring down, but obviously slower..more like a Dwayne Bowe ?

Alshon Alshon Alshon
not
Ashlon

just like Rasheen Maffis

other than that, i’d be happy with getting him. Damn the BAP board (if he’s lower on it)

He does go up and get the ball at it's highest point.

Anybody know a 40 time for him?

those are unofficial

id say a fair guess until he runs a 40 at his proday or the combine is a 4.5

yeah. the site i provided is unofficial when it comes to a lot of things. Frank only asked for a 40 time anyhow. at least three other sites provided the exact same numbers. it’s still a good indicator

446 to 465 is a huge range. we wont know until he runs but it probably will lie in that range. if not we wont draft him anyway cuz either he’ll get taken ahead of where we pick cuz he runs so fast or we wont cuz we wont want another ernest wilford

I want Sanu

he is gonna rise, so somehow I would love to find our way to mid-late first round

I like Sanu

but I want Blackmon. Maybe we can have both? Pipe dreams…

Haven't seen him play

but I don’t like the sound of him. Blackmon sounds more like a #1 threat. Jeffrey sounds like a tall dude. I’m checkin’ the YouTubes right now.

Reporting back

I don’t see any highlights that blow me away the AJ and Julio did last year. Blackmon’s Sports Science is unreal though…

by CheapSeat on Nov 16, 2011 10:45 PM EST up reply actions

hes more then just a tall dude but he isnt as special as everybody makes him out to be
and blackmons sport science blew my mind
gabbert wouldnt be able to miss throwing to that guy

agree

after seeing highlights – Jeffrey is more than a tall dude, but I wasn’t floored. I have watched Blackmon’s Sports Science over and over. He looks special…and nerdy.

I like Jeffery b/c he has better hands than Blackmon

but I wouldn’t mind either of those 2 in teal

Can't stand the truth?

Is bigger better?

Seems like most teams are going for the biggest WR they can find. Megatron has the speed of some of these smaller guys but that is rare. I would rather have a D Jackson/blackmon type and utiilize pass catching tight ends.

+1

Bigger is better for TE, but you need the speed for WR. Also (thanks you Sports Science) Blackmon’s vertical takes him higher than some tall receivers like Plax.

by CheapSeat on Nov 17, 2011 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

DJax is much smaller than Blackmon.

I think there’s a 2 inch and 20 lb difference between the two.

The sports science vid on Blackmon is awesome...

Here’s another great video about Blackmon. A lot of people don’t know about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll1wdsrPmPs

Jeffery

If you actually watch Jeffery he is not very fast and thats the knock on him is his speed.

by Robert93 on Nov 17, 2011 2:52 PM EST reply actions

Jeffery is a really slow off the line... I don't think he is worth #9...

I am afraid of an 2008, where we get away from BAP thinking we are one position away.
Jeffery is tallented but at #9 I think that I would take Kirkpatrick if available.

WR will come around, with a vet FA. and I really like some of the mid to late 1st round second round WR prospects. Like Sanu, Floyd, wright and Toon. Personally hope we can trade down and select Toon,.

Toon looks like a a Gene Smith guy. Dad played in the league, he is gifted, big, “nfl ready” and is a dominant blocking WR.

08 this was an old team,

2011-2012 this is young team.

Jeffery isn't very fast

but always finds a way to be behind DBs.. plus he will do up and catch just about everything.

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Nov 18, 2011 7:12 PM EST reply actions

At this point

I really think we should all just give up the notion of getting a first round WR. Blackmon likely manages to go ahead of where Jags pick, and Jeffery is really good and all, but I really feel like he could burn us just as Williams and Jones did in the past. Look to go with a CB in the first and then you have very good WR likely to be there in Round 2. A new guy who based on last night really caught my attention is Kendall Wright from Baylor. That guy looks to me like he has the speed to flat out get past defenses and really open up the playing field.
