Top NFL WR college stats
Clearly, the Jags need a #1 WR. Looking just at stats, I wanted to compare some of todays top WR stats from college to some of the current top WR who will (may) be in the draft.
Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Roddy White, Greg Jennings
Justin Blackmon, Alshon Jeffrey, Michael Floyd, Dwight Jones, Marvin McNutt (for Alfie)
I'll focus on # catches (can he get open), YPC (what does he do with the ball) and TDs (does he score)
Current NFL WR
Andre - Not many catches, but huge YPC, good TD production (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/andre-johnson-1.html)
Larry- Lots of catches, great YPC, great TD production (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/larry-fitzgerald-1.html)
Calvin- Good # catches, pretty good YPC, good TD production (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/calvin-johnson-1.html)
Greg- Catches improved every year, YPC decreased over time in college, always had good TD production (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/greg-jennings-1.html)
Roddy- Not many catches until SR year, great YPC, # of TDs improved every year (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/roddy-white-1.html)
One thing that stood out to me was the high YPC and TD production. Now I do not know what style of offense these guys played in, which could inflate or deflate stats. Also, I have no idea how opponents game-planned for these guys (I assume Andre was double covered a lot due to his lack of catches). But now for the college guys.
Current College WR
Justin- Lots of catches, okay YPC, tons of TDs, may be a result from style of offense (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/justin-blackmon-1.html)
Alshon- Catches down, YPC down and okay TD production, all probably due to QB play (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/alshon-jeffery-1.html)
Michael- Good # catches, YPC average, Good TD production (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/michael-floyd-1.html)
Dwight- Decent # catches, good YPC, TD production improved every year (http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/dwight-jones-1.html)
Marvin- Catches improved every year, great YPC, great TD production(http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/marvin-mcnutt-1.html)
After looking at it I like Marvin and Dwight the most, especially since they probably won't be considered high first round picks. If somehow the Jags wind up with one of these two in the second, I'd feel much better about our WR corp.

Michael Floyd
Has good size at 6’3". He gets into his routes quickly. He is very strong and is almost like a running back when he gets into the open field. Has played in a pro style offense. Willing to make the tough catches across the middle and he goes up to get the ball at his highest point. The only negative about him really is his character concerns which means most likely we won’t get him. I would love to get either Mohamed Sanu or Dwight Jones if we wait until the 2nd round to get a WR.
Dwight Jones will flight up charts in offseason
i belive hell be a top 15-20 pick….thats just my opnion
I wouldn't put White or Jennings in the Johnson/Johnson/Fitzgerald category..
but of these college guys I would want to see Jeffery the most.. McNutt if we can’t get him. (I’m assuming Blackmon would be gone).

Oh ok.
Even though, I wouldn’t call them elite, I would say they are in that next tier, with guys like Bowe and Mike Wallace who has been balling this year.

Jeffery
Easily, kid is a beast and if he has a good 40 time I’m sure he’ll be available in top 5 for us to pick him
I love Dwight Jones,
and if were picking high, I’d say take Blackmon or trade back, we can get like a 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th

I like the idea of taking a defensive player high in the draft (morris claiborne maybe) and picking a WR in the second plus bringing one in from FA. Gabbert’s good at spreading the ball around but he needs lots of guys to succeed at doing that.
Dude, where are the stats?
I want stats!

I'm willing to drink the Kool-ade, but I'm hungry for the truth.
B.J. Cunningham is a good middle rounds prospect too
enought of small reciever, i want recievers 6’ 3" or taller…
Because that worked so well before right?
