Report: Jaguars Promote LB Mike Lockley To Active Roster
The Jacksonville Jaguars will place tight end Martin Rucker on injured reserve and promote linebacker Mike Lockley from the practice squad to the active roster, according to a report by Aaron Wilson. Lockley was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the season as an undrafted rookie free agent, playing his NCAA football at FAU. Lockley looked like a player who would make a push for the roster and at least the practice squad during training camp and the preseason.
To make room on the active roster for Lockley, the Jaguars are expected to place tight end Martin Rucker on injured reserve. Rucker was plucked from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad prior to the Jaguars game against the Houston Texans. Rucker was active for the game, but played sparingly. It is unknown what his injury is at this time and if it was injured during the game or in practice following the game.

So,
wouldn’t that make your high school’s defensive coach his high school coach?
or did his son play for a different school?

His son played for the public school in my zone
In Orlando, Olympia High School (Where Chris Johnson played), but I go to a private school and that is where he coaches

I believe the whole purpose of Rucker.....
was to let Mr. Lewis know he needs to get his hinnie in gear! Lets hope that message has been heard loud and clear. I Marcedes is not trying to play poorly, and this is probably hurting him more than us fans, but the man needs to step it up, and I think it starts this weekend in Indy!
Or it could be that the Jags needed another tightend with Miller on IR
But I do agree that he needs to play better.

Yes, they signed a guy off another team’s practice squad immediately following an injury to a tight end and used him sparingly to “send a message” to Marcedes Lewis.
That’s it.
It guess its a reach....
and just my frustration with Lewis coming out. Hopefully he will play better this week.
Thinking a bit more about it......
and remembering what the the radio guys said during that game, it did seem odd to have a pro bowl tight end sitting on the bench while a recently signed guy off another teams practice squad was on the field. Surely Lewis is the better athlete, and that being said, why not use him over Rucker?
what were the circumstances?

Joe....
I can not remember, and plus it was radio, so I was listening and driving home from a wedding (hung over like a dog). I get what you are saying, but it just seemed odd to me that they would have a new guy in over a pro bowler, even if those situations were normally handled by Miller. I am sure there is justification to this on the Jags behalf, but it still seems a bit odd to me.
Fan of Lockley
Did some research on him when he signed and if I remember correctly, I was told he was the highest paid UDFA. It might have been Lutrus though. One or the other. Either way, its another special teams player that can be fielded who can tackle.
Main thing I like about him
he’s a hitter. He brings some tenacity, something we’ve been missing a little on special teams.
along with Owens and Osgood and a decent punter

Lockely can finally start making some money now
He was the guy who got fined for the helmet to helmet shot in preseason if memory serves.

I don't like the way the NFL fines players
It needs to be a certain percentage of a player’s check instead of a set number.

I'm excited to see him play.

This guy can bring the lumber...
I watched him during preseason, i like what i see out of him. Not sure about his coverage skills but he’s a good wrap up tackler with good speed.
Lets see if he comes to life these next 8 weeks. And your right about Dujuan Harris? I think they need to give him a look. He kinda reminds me of a Ben Tate with the size and speed.

except really raw
although Ben Tate has been hurt, he has had the time to learn the game better, and know what he has to do, to play better when he comes off injury, and now he’s quite good. Harris might make the roster next season, with a strong offseason.
