Brian Robiskie listed as #1 on the Depth Cart

In a surprising move by Mel Tucker and company, Brian Robiskie is listed as the #1 WR on the depth chart. This come after the WR shakeup this week with the release of the WR position coach and former #1 WR Jason Hill. Brian has been bothered with a hamstring injury the past few weeks and has only seen very limited action. These next five games he has the opportunity to solidify a roster spot for next season and resurrect his career.

I personally like Robiskie's size and speed for a #1 WR. The big knock on him is his strength to beat press coverage off the line. His route running and hands are very good. It's great to see the Jags looking more to Robiskie, Chastin West, Jarret Dillard, and Cecil Shorts III to see just how many WR's we are going to need to acquire through the draft and free agency in 2012. We know we need at least one starter. If none of these guys step up, we will likely go after a big name free agent WR and use a 1st or 2nd round pick on one in the draft.

A mid-season pickup who was released from the Browns is our #1 receiver. sigh.

A second round pick that no one would have questioned if we had made it instead of Cleveland.

Who’s been throwing him the ball there, again?

Who’s going to be throwing him the ball here?

Can’t be any worse than what we have seen at times so far.

Our receiving corps isn't as deep

The knock on Robiskie

isn’t his inability to beat press. At least it’s his biggest knock. His biggest knocks are his lack of speed and separation.

Robiskie is not a #1

I’d rather see more of Dillard, West and Shorts the rest of the season. We’ve tried resurrecting more than one players career. He couldn’t cut it in Cleveland and he won’t last long here.

I don't disagree with you

But for the time being he could be a more consistent chain mover, something we desperately need.

We have no depth at the position. None at all.Mel is letting these guys make a case for themselves, i understand that. But it is looking like we just need to rebuild the entire offense from scratch. Britton, Monroe and Gabbert are about the only three assured to be here next year on that side of the ball.

Uche? Mike Thomas? Greg Jones?

I can see Lewis returning , getting traded or whatever. He had about one good year and you can make a case for him or against him. He is a coin flip at the moment IMO.

Gabbert has his flaws for sure

But he needs more help around him.

Gabbert does sack himself a bit too much, but he's very careful with the pill

As many times as he’s been sacked, I’m shocked he hasn’t lost more fumbles.

especially in that they cost us nothing

IMO, it’s ok to be pissed about a Hugh Douglas not working out. Maybe even Jason Hill getting cut. But to bemoan 2 receivers going on IR after they were claimed on waivers and we did not lose any draft picks for them and got them for very very little, to me is like bitching for the sake of bitching.
