It's getting towards that time of year when we get the onslaught of NFL mock drafts. You can get a good read on where teams are falling in the draft order and where they will wind up. Sitting at 4-9 currently, the Jacksonville Jaguars are tied with five other teams, record wise. It will come down to tie breakers and strength of schedule at the end of the year. At projected SOS, I have the Jaguars picking 5th overall right now, but if you just look at the standings at ESPN or NFL.com, they're listed at 4th overall.
So, who does SB Nation have the Jaguars picking in their 2012 NFL Mock Draft?
4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
Jacksonville really needs to get Blaine Gabbert another weapon on offense. The Jaguars have the worst group of receivers in the NFL. Blackmon's speed and playmaking ability would be a nice complement to Maurice Jones-Drew. Gabbert will be happy to have a sure-handed wide receiver.
Now, I've made it known I'm not sold on Justin Blackmon at 4th overall. I think he lacks the speed and the hands you want from a Top 10 wide receiver. He reminds me a bit of Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, neither of which I would take in the Top 5. In this mock, Morris Claiborne is gone so it makes the pick a tough spot. I don't think a quarterback will be considered, so that limits it even further. Based on this Mock Draft, I would take Stanford OT Jonathan Martin, Iowa OT Riley Reiff, or Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick. I'd also consider South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffrey, but I'm a lot higher on him than most people are, he lacks the speed but he has the size and hands.
