2012 NFL Pro Bowl: Maurice Jones-Drew Makes AFC Squad

PrintIn news that should come as a shock to no one, Maurice Jones-Drew is the sole Jaguars player to be named to the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl and will serve as the second string running back for the AFC. After fan voting (which accounts for 1/3 of the total Pro Bowl vote) results were released, Jones-Drew was the only Jaguars player to finish in the top five in their respective positions in the AFC.
The 2012 NFL Pro Bowl will be Jones-Drew's 3rd consecutive time being named to the AFC roster and it makes him the 5th player in Jaguars history to have earned the honor three or more times, joining Tony Boselli, Jimmy Smith, Mark Brunell and Marcus Stroud.
Jones-Drew currently leads the NFL in rushing yards with 1,437 and has 128 yards more than Eagles RB LeSean McCoy, the 2nd leading rusher in the NFL. Jones-Drew needs 136 yards against the Colts in week 17 to break Fred Taylor's single season franchise rushing record.
Montell Owens was named the first alternate AFC special teamer, Greg Jones is the 2nd alternate at fullback and Josh Scobee is the 3rd alternate kicker.
The 2012 NFL Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

LeSean McCoy is not playing by the look of it
They should take it easy with Mo. Maybe next year he can take a run after the team record if there is more at stake. Rest his body and legs. Maybe try to get him 1500 yards, that would be nice.

but I will not. If Mojo gets hurt in the Indy game, which I hope me does not, he will have the whole season to mend. If he misses the pro-bowl game, I doubt even he would care. He will want to, and has earned teh right, to go for the rushing title. I am sure it would mean a lot to him!

The leading rushing title proves he is the best in the league, but he is 2nd team in our division. That makes no sense….none at all!
The pro bowl is a joke.
It’s a popularity contest. There is barely a player from a losing team, except MJD on it and he has the rushing title.
What that says is the league also views the players on loosing teams as not as good as players on winning teams. There are good players on loosing teams, just not as popular or visible as players on winning or forefront franchises, eg. Pitt, NE, GB .

I see Mincey getting himself a Pro-Bowl or 2 before he is done! The same may go for Poz. I don;t think Darryl Smith is a slouch either!
Pro Bowl is a waste of time. There should be no fan voting allowed. Period.

I actually disagree.
I think it should be only fan voting. Because having the players/coaches vote is horsecrap. It makes it seem like it’s more official, but the players are just as bad as the fans with big names. At least if it’s just the fans we can all acknowledge the fact that the Pro Bowl is bullshit.
