Blaine Gabbert - Only second quarterback drafted by the Jaguars in the first round, and fifth QB overall. Was one of four QBs selected in the first 12 picks, the third overall behind Cam Newton and Jake Locker. Selected with 10th pick of draft, obtained from Washington in exchange for 1st (16) and 2nd (49)-round selections.
Gabbert was benched Sunday and his head coach was fired Tuesday. Not exactly the best of weeks for the Jaguars rookie quarterback.
Gabbert will be starting again in Week 13, according to new coach Mel Tucker, who takes over in Jacksonville for Jack Del Rio. Gabbert is far from well from the performance this year. The Jags are 2-7 in games Gabbert has started, and he has a awful 62.2 passer rating.
Gabbert could be let lose over the final five games because Tucker and the coaching staff could open things up since they're auditioning for future work. Then again, based on how he's played, the offense could remain conservative to make fewer mistakes.
Gabbert is undefeated on Monday Night Football thanks to the help of Josh Scobee against Baltimore 12-7. Gabbert threw for only 93 yards, and no touchdowns. Hopefully, this time around he will won't have to rely on Scobee.
