Should Aaron Kampman Receive a Super Bowl Ring?
Hello Jaguars Fans,
I'm a Packers fan that comments over at Acme Packing Company. I have an ethical dilemma that I think you guys could answer.
The Packers are given 150 Super Bowl Rings to distribute to whomever they please. Would you guys be alright with Aaron Kampman accepting a Super Bowl ring from a team he was under contract with for no part of the 2010 season? Perhaps, more importantly, would Wayne Weaver, Gene Smith, and Jack Del Rio be alright with him accepting a Super Bowl Ring while with another team?
I'm not sure if the Indianapolis Colts and the Arizona Cardinals set a precedent when the Colts sent Edgerrin James a Super Bowl ring, but it's the only occurrence of this I've heard of. So, obviously there, all parties involved were okay with it, but i'm curious to here what you guys think.

While he was a great component of your team until 2009, he is no longer on the team. I don’t think the Jags management would have an opinion either way.
Aside from the fact that he is a very stand up guy and to me, seems like he would quickly dismiss any such suggestion, I think it would be kind of ridiculous. Does Favre get one? Lindell? Mike Sherman? Guys who were cut in camp?
In my honest opinion, I’ve got to question what a player is thinking who would accept a ring for a team he did not play for the year they won it all and I kind of lose a little respect for him for taking the ring. There are other ways to bring Kampman back in the fold when his career is done. Giving him a ring is kinda cheap. If the Packers wanted him bad enough, they should have matched the Jags offer. But they moved on as did he.
(Hope I did not come across as too abrasive. Just giving an honest answer to your question. Congrats on your team winning it all!)
You didn't, I get where you're coming from
And I appreciate the congratulations.

I think AK should get one
he is a guy, that was a key part of the Packers success, and he deserves a ring…
I think the EJ situation was different
that team was together for a long time and finally got over the hunt that one year after being close a couple of times with him on the team, not the same situation as Green Bay, who changed schemes and got a little (more like a lot) lucky in their run but AK didn’t really have a hand in it.
And idk why anybody here would have a problem with it if they did give him one, that comment made no sense to me.

Kampman
was with us since 2002. In that span, we made the playoffs six times, including advancing to the NFC Championship in the 2007 season. We were knocking on the door just like the Colts with Edgerrin were.
And how did we get lucky in our run?

Because the Giants would've automatically
won that game in overtime, right?

good point
coming from a fan of a team who won games due to a Hail Mary, a 59 yarder, and overcoming 6 turnovers, you make a solid point. The key is catching the breaks and taking advantage of them. The Packers did and thus they have the hardware.
Thats not the same situation, you weren't as close as Indy..
You didn’t win like 12 games for like 6 straight years before winning one, its a completely different situation..
And like Joe said if the giants kicked away from Jackson, the packers would have been at home.
Or if the Cutler could have played in the second half of that game, you wouldn’t have gotten into the super bowl.
And if they would have called that second pick in the super-bowl pass interference the way it should have been, idk if they would have had the momentum to win that game.
Oh and If the Bears decided to play that last game of the year, they would have been at home 2.

bears gave GB an honest game in the regular season finale
the whole thing is based on hypotheticals.
The 2 key events that propelled Green Bay into the playoffs were the Giants blowing the Eagles game and Detroit snapping its 28 game road losing streak when they upset Tampa Bay.
BUT, take nothing away from what they accomplished when they got to the playoffs. All it takes is an opportunity.
Im not taking anything away, they still took care of business and won..
I’m just acknowledging that they had a few more than favorable breaks.

Actually, trying to take away is exactly what your doing.
What you don’t talk about is all the hypotheticals that went against the Packers. The missed ‘illegal hit to the head’ call in overtime against the Redskins, a ticky tack call by the refs in the Dolphins game. What about how lucky the Bears were this year, that cost us a chance at the NFC North title, and a possible bye.
Heck, Detroit beating Tampa and the Giants choking to the Eagles kind of felt like the first breaks the Packers got all year.
And can’t you point to this kind of stuff for most Super Bowl Champions?

don't tell us about illegal hits to the head
Garrard takes them almost every game and NEVER gets a flag
How did I take away from what they did?
I still said they won, there were just a couple of all-time dumb moves to help you get there.

How can a team with their IR list
ever be considered lucky?
No Vic should get it.

Kampman had zero part in the 2010 Green Bay Packers
Though I love Kampman and would LOVE to see him get a ring, he unfortunately does not deserve one this year.

I think AK
should get one, but I hope he get’s it in about a year, if you know what I mean.

I dont think he should, i would rather see him win one with us..he wasnt a part of your team..
I LOVE KAMPMAN, but he has to be part of the team..
I see no reason any player not on a superbowl winning team should get a ring
maybe big ben should get one because he essentially lost the game for the steelers?
Aaron Kampman
got screwed over by Green Bay, he was happy and the best, then gets a call, “Hey Aaron were moving to the 3-4.” He immediatley got up and said, **** * you *, *(not really), then he said, " This is taking time to adjus….ahh my kneee….", then he didn’t get resigned, found a home in horrable Jacksonville, and beats his wife and kids…this was all a joke, but he did kind of get screwd over…but its not all about the player….

cleaning fluids?

This was so far
from funny. Poking fun at anyone is welcome with me if it’s done creatively. This was just tasteless and tactless.
