Gene Upshaw's Impact on the NFLPA and NFL

Hello everyone, thanks for checking this out. The owners and players are going through a tough time right As we may all know what its about. If you don't they're in the process of negotiating a new CBA. However I'am not here to give you insight of the situation, actually its the other way around. I NEED HELP.

If you're not caught on to what the month of February means to African-Americans, than i should now tell you its Black History Month. A month in which WE as Americans, celebrate the impact that African-Americans have made in any significant way in the history of the U.S.

I have an APUSH project/report to do for Black History Month and its due March 4th. As a result I've decided to do one on Gene Upshaw since the current CBA expires march 4th, I thought it would be interesting. Also, the main reason is I believe I once heard Vic say or wrote something about without Gene Upshaw, there won't (kinda sorta) be any NFL or Free Agency. Therefore, I thought that he would be someone really good to do base on the fact of what the NFL means to all of us, especially Jacksonville.

I did some research and it all went back to what the situation was between the players and owners back in the early 1980s but none actually summarize what Gene did in a way i actually understood. It was all like hearing about cover two and three during a broadcast, none was like the John Madden broadcast if you know what i mean. what I really need is an insightful summery of his impact till this day.

I apologize to those who expected an Actual FanPost about Gene Upshaw's impact on the players and owners.

Thanks
