Jaguars Could Look at Defensive End in the 2011 NFL Draft

According to Paul Kuharksy, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be looking at a defensive end with the 16th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Paul Kuharsky is one of many media people up in Indianapolis covering the 2011 NFL Combine, and he was able to grab a few quotes from Jaguars general manager Gene Smith.

"We're still going to improve the pass rush so it's not out of the realm of possibility that if a defensive end is the best available player that we'd add a defensive end," he said. "I'm always going to try to be heavy in numbers on the offensive and defensive lines.

"We've certainly got to improve on both ends, on the front end creating more rush -- even though we improved, we're not where we need to be yet - and on the back end making plays on the ball. We were certainly delinquent at the safety position, I don't think that's any secret and hopefully we're able to address some things there to help us moving forward."

Paul Kuharsky also notes that Gene Smith made mention it's reasonable to expect the Jacksonville Jaguars to draft a safety at some point and sign one in free agency. Will it be Bob Sanders? O.J. Atogwe? Eric Weddle?

We'll actually need a CBA before we find that portion out, it seems.
