I thought he had some speed concerns
I guess not..lol

Its more
Size concerns for him. He was plenty fast at Ohio State.
Good nickel corner. I have him higher than most.

I was thinking
Maybe if he ran slower he might slip to 16

But he was never a center fielder at FL
like Reggie Nelson was.
Ahmad has never been claimed to be a 4.5 guy. He is rather a well coached and instinctive player who took good angles and tackled well. 4.7 for a SS isn’t awful. It’s slow for a FS, but Ahmad never played way back when we went to the Cover 1.
INTANGABLES! He’s a winner! He stayed and got a degree! blah blah blah. But really, kid won multiple HS state championships, played and started for two BCS Championships, senior, leader, lunch pail guy. I don’t imagine him being too high on our lists, but I wouldn’t be angry if the Jags picked him up in the later rounds.

He's one of the few Florida players I really like
I think he’ll be a productive pro. Won’t set the world on fire but he’s a worker.
The speed is a question
But the production is there, his buddy will hill ran terrible to

Hill peaked in HS
apart from 3 games, he’s never done anything of note in Gainesville. Every year the headlines were, “Hill ready for breakout season” and each year it never seemed to come to fruition.

Punters are awful, awful people.
They should remove all kicking from football. No punting, no FGs. You must go for it on 4th all the time, and you must only score TDs – and you may kick a PAT – but a regular position player must kick it.
and Ray Guy.
The good news is, you would have fewer idiot kickers almost cutting their legs off with axes that idiot coaches leave in locker rooms.
I mean the equipment guys have a run on hyphens
It’s a bitch cutting the "I"s in half. Tears the fabric
Before last year
There was talk of home being a late 1st early 2nd but injuries this year killed all likely hood of that happening, I’m saying he goes late 2nd maybe 3rd

Quinton Carter is really good...
any chance he’s there for our 2nd rd pick? If so, I want that guy playing S(FS or SS) for us next year.
You guys are really over valuing this safety class. It’s bad.

Isnt the safety and corner
The weakest class this year?
by amujic32 on Mar 1, 2011 10:23 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Corner is extremely deep
The safety class is pretty awful.

I think that some of the corners have FS written all over them.
We could do what we did to Rasheen draft a CB put him in FS and in year two he can play CB.
II only saw Carter play once or twice -
is he not as good as I thought? I just read about him and assumed he would be an upgrade.
Hahahahaha!!!
Mayock, Eisen, and Prime were just laughing at Will Hill for having 3 kids while in college.
He must be trying to beat Cromartie.

trade up for
prince ! 4.37 thats blazing
haha
I'm in
10th grade and I run a 4.7. I’m surprised these safeties aren’t faster than that.

For real.
In high school I was 5-10, 175 and ran a 4.7 40. Hell I should enter the draft.

i agree big time with Dawool Huh
Trading up to get Prince would make alot more sense than trading up for Alualu like we did. His value is way to get to let slip out of our hands. If we can trade up to maybe the cowboys or someone in front of the Texans then i say we do it. He is a player well worth losing a draft pick
That wouldn't be a good move
He is going to be a really good player but the Jags need to trust their board and get the best players they can, maybe even trade back for more picks. and we didn’t trade up for Alualu.
by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Mar 1, 2011 2:39 PM EST up reply actions
agreed
let me add that the jaguars are not at the stage where they can throw away bringing in multiple guys so that they can sure up a position better than they could otherwise. I love Amukamara as much as anyone, but I see him going to SF at the latest.
UT Chattanooga
Anyone have any info on the kid that burned up the 40? im sure GM-G has some info on him. Being from a small school and all.
Buster Skrine
5’10, 185. He was all-conference for two years and put up good stats. He was playing in a bum division and has good numbers, but he got his hands on 36 balls (31 “passes defended”) and came away with only 5 picks. That would raise some questions about his hands. He does have great straight line speed, and is not afraid to make plays in the running game. My guess would be a 4th or 5th round prospect. Now that people have seen his speed, he might move up, but he’s probably a returner more than a viable option at corner.

Wait... NFL.com lied.
It was apparently Demarcus Van Dyke that ran the 4.28. Ignore my previous post.
That’s weird because NFL.com said it was Skrine. Skrine ended up running a 4.48 officially.

if a guy can cover
I’m fine with him knocking balls down, and not giving up the big plays, deflected passes, are way better then completions.

Exactly
I think a lot people don’t realize that corners that make a lot of picks usually give up a lot of big plays because they are jumping routes, taking to many risks, and not being discipline.
by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Mar 2, 2011 11:04 AM EST up reply actions
Yeah... this is weird.
NFL.com doesn’t mention anything about Buster Skrine’s time. Apparently, the official time came out to 4.48 according to the NFL, but WalterFootball and a few more places have him down as a 4.29. I guess someone was a little late starting the watch.
