Though I should be sleeping or preparing for my mid-term in Statistics tomorrow, I figured what better way to spend my time then obsessing over possible draft scenarios like many of us have since the Gene era began. There's a really fun draft site P.K. from the afc south blog at espn.com recommended last week:
http://www.drafttek.com/CMDRound1.asp
Using this mock, I did my own personal Jags mock based on whoever was available and this is what I came up with:
1. de jj watt
-At first I didn't like their choice of watt right here, I'm a little higher an Akeem Ayers even though some say he's not a great choice for the 4-3. I decided to youtube Watt's highlights and fell in love a little bit. Not enough for a reach, but enough to think this is a solid pick with who was available.
2. qb christian ponder
-I don't think anyone on this site would object to this pick at this spot. I was a little heartbroken to see miami take him with the last choice before our 3rd rounder. Not that it mattered because if Gene had a crystal ball he may have been able to steal Alualu in the 2nd last year.
3. lb gregg jones
-This seems like a great value to me. I've seen a lot of sites place him around the middle of the second round.
4. wr edmund gates
-We could end up losing MSW and WR isn't our biggest need going into free agency (though Sidney Rice or Malcolm Floyd wouldn't bother me one bit). I think need meets value here.
4. ot orlando franklin
-At worst he's still a much better player then Guy Whimper.
5. lb Chris carter
-Workout Warrior for a need in the fifth round? Not bad...but I don't really know much about him.
6. db chris culliver
-Another WW. Speed is important to special teams. Roll the dice to see if he's a good player.
7. db will hill
-I don't even know who else to pick. Really anything DL, DB, or LB would make sense, too.
I happen to agree with Alfie that safety will be patched with free agency, in case you were wondering.
What would YOU do.
