2011 NFL Draft Profile: Marcus Gilchrist - Clemson, CB/S

Height: 5-10

Weight: 195lbs

PROS: Has a nice frame, both height and weight wise. Very strong player who can come up and support the run game. Has experience at both strong safety and cornerback, which will garner looks from a lot of teams due to his versatility. Has played cornerback, free safety, and strong safety. Looks to be in the mold of the "new breed" of NFL style safety that can play both safety positions and drop down in the slot on third downs if necessary.

CONS: Not really known as a playmaker. Didn’t record an interception until his final season at Clemson and then only had one. Doesn’t play the ball very well in the air and can take quite a bit of unnecessary steps in coverage. Best position will likely be at safety because he’s best in zone coverage. Doesn’t have the greatest instincts and his footwork and back pedal will need to be cleaned up.
