Jaguars Sign S Tyron Brackenridge and CB David Jones to contracts
The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed safety Tyron Brackenridge and cornerback David Jones to contract extensions, the team announced via Twitter. David Jones was acquired in the trade with the Cincinnati Bengals that sent safety Reggie Nelson. Jones started a few games in place of Derek Cox. Jones also played all 16 games for the Jaguars in the 2010 season. Brackenridge has been a key special teams contributor the past two season.
Kind of surprised the Jaguars brought back David Jones. Quite frankly, he was awful. According to Football Outsiders, David Jones was worse in coverage than a hole in zone coverage.

Shocking that Jones is back, but I really like TBrack.
I met his parents at a game (the Colts night game 2 seasons ago) and they were awesome. He seems to be a good ST player.
Not surprising
Both players, particularly David Jones, will be back here to compete for their roster spots in August. We’re limited in DB depth and talent so there is no harm in bringing back both of these guys at least for insurance until a CBA gets done and Free Agency becomes available.
Being re-signed now doesn’t mean they are on the roster Week 1 this season.
I don't feel like we know enough about Tbrack to say that...
He could improve his game.

lets be real here..i dont want 3 different safeties subbing in and out, it gives them zero confidence..
u need confidence in yourself to play this game, people need to know your on the field..we need to pick up or draft a safety..i would love a ball hawk on our side of defense..
We know that Don Carey
who was making a position switch started over him. That may be a purely special teams move.
I really like t brack
Ive always wanted to see what he could do at safety for us, david jones on the other hand ^ I agree with these guys

I would have been comfortable letting these folks walk...
But hey I guess for depth it doesn’t hurt.

thats stupid
thats just a cheap sign. I would trade them away for a 7th rounder haha
Jones is a decent nickel, nothing more.
But as said above, they have been signed as insurance, David Jones as never had an off-season with the Jaguars staff and coaches, it’s only fair he gets an off-season to try to get better with his team, and if his off-season is only decent, or worse. He’ll get cut, if it’s strong he’ll be on the roster.

And....
Tyron Brackenridge is a good Special Teamer, I think(I think) he’s a gunner on Special Teams, and he’s not that bad, he’s a good dime back, and he’s still developing.
