St. Louis reporter Howard Balzer on Mike Sims-Walker (quoting a "Jaguars insider")
Asked for insight on Sims-Walker, a Jaguars insider said, "He can't beat press coverage off the line of scrimmage and he also whines if they don't throw to him even if they win. He doesn't want to take the blame when he doesn't make a catch and he has a bad knee.
"One of (general manager) Gene Smith's mantras is ‘Know your own team’ and if he doesn't think he can play, I would be leery of him. Maybe for the minimum or incentives.
"He also missed curfew last year, supposedly out all or most of the night with a woman and was suspended for the game. He had 18 of his catches in two blowouts, 10 in a loss to San Diego and eight in a win over Dallas. In no other game did he have more than four.
"A year ago he surprised people, but once they studied him, they were able to shut him down."

Just food for thought.

All reasons why
I didn’t blink an eye when I read that we were parting ways with MSW.

FWIW: “Jaguars Insider” in these reports is always Vito Stellino.
Lots of hyperbole in all that.

Haha
I couldn’t imagine Vito speaking that coherently

not a fan of Vito
He seems to have an agenda with every article or tweet. Sorry, but the host of the website leaving equating to the team going elsewhere is just irresponsible journalism. I think it has to do with the bitterness a lot of Baltimore folks have over Jacksonville getting a team before they did, and all the bad blood of Irsay flying into the Gator Bowl and saying it’s not if Jacksonville gets the Colts, but when.
He has gotten so much mileage out of being the pool reporter for the ’79 AFC Championship screwjob when Renfroe had 2 feet in and it was ruled incomplete.
what do u mean, he had 2 good games in pointless situations in both of those games, did u watch the chargers game ?
cause i did, it was emberassing, and he got all of his yards and td on one of the last drives that meant nothing, the game was already over lol..i remember, luke mccowan came in for a bit then got hurt lol
My nostalgic side was a little sad.
But then my logical side came thru and all was right with the world again.

did anyone see when mike thomas caught the hail mary, msw stood their unexcited, looked like he was mad cause it wasnt him, instead of celebrating like Marcedes did as he went crazy around him
Slamming a player for not being “excited enough” and throwing out ridiculous assumptions.

I think it's kind of like...
when you get fired or quit a normal job, everything is your fault…..that’s what is going on here. I am confident the Jags had good reasons for why they let him go, but it would not shock me to find out MSW had something to do with Jaxson D’Ville getting hung up on the wire before that one home game!
LOL about Jaxson getting hung up
Yeah I agree with you on this one. Anytime you leave a job they immediately throw dirt on you, it happens in all career fields. I liked MSW, but I never got the feeling he was the answer in Jax. IMO the Jags did right by MSW by allowing him the time to become healthy and getting his game on tape. He’ll have no problems finding gainful employment elsewhere.

Hahahahaha...
It’s funny ‘cause it’s true. We will all go out of our way to look for examples of MSW not doing what we thought he should be doing.
alfie, im not tryin to bash msw, im just relating what i thought to this article..do i like msw ? yes i do i follow him on twitter hes a good guy
but maybe some of this is true, their has to be reasons for jags getting rid of “our best receiver” ; im excited to see dillard and what he can do
WINNING!!!! DUH! (Charlie Sheen Voice)
If Hill can be what I think he can, M80, and Dillard should have good production, we still got TU (I know), and Osgood too. Osgood is more of a special team star, so I wouldnt mind drafting one late or finding a steal that dropped for whatever reason. Hopefully now we can throw the money we were gonna pay MSW at Eric Weddle.

I don't know about Hill being the answer.
Anytime a Jags receiver catches a pass longer than 30 yards everybody is ready to throw “the next jimmy smith” label on them. I’m guilty of it too, but I have been let down too many times and I won’t be doing that anymore. We’ve been deprived of a deep threat for so long that we are desperate enough to crown almost anybody a #1

cmon Alf, how could he not be ecstatic?
Unless someone is gonna pull the “shocked” card…

Probably because that’s the play he re-aggrevated his high ankle sprain on.
But, assumptions are always for fun than what actually happened.

He tweeted out
a picture of his ankle getting treatment later that week. It looked pretty injured to me.

I thought I remembered Sims-Walker re-injuring the ankle earlier in the game
I’m pretty sure he left the game earlier with the injury, but toughed it out and came back in. Not 100%, but that’s my recollection.

He left twice that day, but the jump for the ball and coming down was what did it in.

I think he was more ticked about the non call on the PI
Hell, Kassim Osgood ran into the locker room and did not join the celebration. It was captured on NFL Films as he was miked.
Was he not a good teammate?
I thought Alfie was more wondering about...
Why they are letting him go. What are the reasons (as the Jags must have a reason)? I also think he was irritated by the assumption many people made that MSW was demanding a huge payday…when we don’t know if that’s true.
Now it seems he is just laughing at all the revisionist history about MSWs play. We were all lapping it up when he was our “number 1”, now we are looking back, and all of a sudden MSW wasn’t giving 100%, and could’ve done more or been a better teammate…
who the heck really cares why they let him walk? what’s done is done… time to move on.

I think it was because Dillard will be back healthy
and Hill could give same or more production at fraction of the cost…plus with 9 picks im sure we can find one somewhere in the draft….Also, remember what a breakout year Mercedes had in the passing game, he should be a main target…Mercedes, M80, Hill, and Dillard+ FA / Draft
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST, WHO STRENGTHENS ME!!!
You forgot Zach Miller, MJD, Jennings, and Karim will get the ball too. + we will draft another wr, I guarantee it. That is a lot of offensive targets.
No need to pay MSW and he didn’t fit in here anyway.
Dont be suprised though
if MSW has a monster, breakout year. If he stays healty, plays with the right attitude and has a QB…. because as much as I love DG, he just flat out missed him sometimes. For some reason I see him going to the Patriots.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST, WHO STRENGTHENS ME!!!
I think that you guys are smoking a lot of MSW dope.
I loved the guy but he is no way a #1 on any of those teams. I don’t think that losing him is going to hurt us much at all and if someone pays him big and he has a good year, good for him.
that's kinda been my point through the news he was no longer in the plans
If he gets the big money deal, hooray for him. He had 63 catches in 15 games in 2009 when he was the primary weapon. 80 catches with a good qb is a) not necessarily a #1 receiver and b) not out of the realm of possibility.
Utter failure
First of all MSW wouldnt catch 80 balls on any team much less a team that has a star running back as part of their main gameplan…MSW is on the bench on the playoff teams…prolly never see the field on teams like GB Steelers Ravens…Dallas…If he goes somewhere its prolly Falcons…
MSW
The guy has some talent but at the same time , big man Gene has done his homework on MSW recently , meaning things are there that maybe isn’t seen by the naked eye if you know what I mean. M80 , J Hill , Mercedes , Miller , Dilard and we can get a WR in the late rounds in the draft -— that core group should do the job just fine.

For the record
I said MSW was a joke 2 years ago…Have no idea why the Jags kept him so long…..
