Andy Dalton's Hair Concerns NFL Teams. For Reals.
Apparently, there is an actual employee of an NFL franchise who's tasked in some form or another in evaluating talent, who has concerns about Andy Dalton's red hair. I'm not kidding.
Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that at least one NFL team is concerned about the fact that Andy Dalton is a ginger kid.
"Has there ever been a red-headed quarterback in the NFL who's really done well?" a coach asked the media last week. "It sounds idiotic, but is there any way that could be a factor? We've wondered."
Again, this is not a joke. This is completely serious. Peter King doesn't name the coach, but since the coach asked the media it shouldn't be long before we figure out who it is. As ridiculous as it sounds, there is some creedence to the concern. Rotoworld points out that red-headed quarterbacks historically haven't been successful in the NFL. They cite the likes of Jeff Garcia and Todd Marinovich. Carson Palmer is also a red head, but I'm not sure if he helps the concern or goes against it.
The 2011 NFL Draft is officially now ridiculous.

Any scout that discounts a quarterback due to hair color needs to be fired.
My money's on the Bucs
They had the “boxers or briefs” question and asked the FSU safety about “abandoning his teammates” during his Rhodes Scholar year.

This is fundamentally no different than questioning the possible success of a black QB
purely on the fact that he is black. Yet, for some reason, I don’t predict quite the outrage. Do we have any redhead journalists that will come out in his defense? Maybe the ACLU. Hmmmm.
Hopefully it was just a joke.
This lock-out has given people way too little to write about.
Interestingly, there was an article in ESPN or SI a couple years ago that commented on how successful NFL quarterbacks are likely to have more symmetrical faces than most people. Brett Favre’s was the highest with 98.6% symmetry or something. Matt Ryan was also very high.
I don’t think this is the original article I read but it sheds some light on the topic: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203706604574378733451557884.html
They have bad immune systems...
NFL teams need to be concerned about Dalton. Redheads have bad immune systems.
Really?
That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard and unfounded.

I don't like red-haired QBs
I say we get our selves a sexy brunette. or a blonde.

So… You want a sexy QB Rhett? Which one tickles your fancy?

If I recall Alfie...
you said some questionable things about Trent Edwards.
Blaine Gabbert is beautiful, but she’s too full of herself. Plus, she is probably just in it for the money. Colin K is okay in the face, but her ass…mmm. Jake Locker is pretty fine, but her rack is what really gets me going… I like Christian Ponder, because she is cute…not hot…but cute like someone you would marry.

My wife has been judging potential QB prospects based on their appearance for about a year now. Every time I saw one on TV I would ask her what she thought about him being the new face of the franchise.
She did not approve of Andy Dalton.

I know who said it...
Bobby Knight…
He later apologized for the statement he made with no factual basis.
