Interesting nugget about Blaine
According rotoworld, vikings GM Rick Spielman conceded that trading up for Blaine Gabbert was an option but that they didn't want to lose out on a 2nd round pick. Obviously Blaine was highly coveted. Considering how much more value the Vikings first 2 picks had I'm surprised they would have needed a 2nd rounder to trade up only 2 spots. Doesn't quite add up. Either way, Gene Swung a good deal that other GM's are probably jealous of.

Lets just pray
That we don’t have another Byron Leftwich on our hands when the defense had so many pressing concerns going into this draft.
There is absolutely nothing similar about him and Leftwich
except for the fact they both play QB

What's not to get?
Did Byron Leftwich ever develop into anything? Did he live up to his draft value? Did that waste of a draft pick hurt this organization’s development?
So what’s not to get or be confused by? We’ve got massive defensive holes. A hefty schedule on the horizon next season, and if this draft pick ends up being about as valuable as Leftwich was in his career, well then we could have a major issue on our hands.
I’ve learnt in life that you gotta be prepared for anything to happen at any time. So what happens if Gabbert never develops into much? Here we passed on guys Prince Amukamara, Nick Fairley, etc. I know it’s a pretty sweet deal to get the consensus #1 QB at 10th overall so I do have hope for him. But if he doesn’t, we probably just passed on the opportunity to draft a future pro-bowler in Amakumara or Fairley type players,
That is just hyperbole
Gene is known to be “risk-adverse” or likes to take safe picks. Gabbert is not a safe pick, it is a bold move for our franchise and will make or break our future. Yet, it is way cool to get our next QB and have him be one of the top guys in the draft. I am just pumped to be a Jags fan.
I would say Gabbert is a safe
pick. Aside from being a spread QB, which doesn’t really bother me as long as he’s in the throwing type of spread, he is very clean as a prospect.
So I'm sure you guys have already heard this but
Blaine Gabbert looks like Sunshine from Remember the Titans http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/398/534/sunshine_display_image.jpg?1284659289
Shake and Bake
He won’t look like Sunshine after they shave a J in his hair.
