While the Carolina Panthers have publicly said they're not giving up on last year's second round pick, Jimmy Clausen, it's obvious the team is hurting at the quarterback position. Newton offers and injection of talent and energy into the position, as well as the ability to play immediately because of his ability to create when a play is not there. It's a pick that will excite the fanbase and bring in a new era for the Carolina Panthers. It's also a pick that could ultimately blow up in their face as well, but that's how it goes having the number one overall draft pick.
