LOS ANGELES CA - OCTOBER 16: Matt Barkley #7 of the USC Trojans eludes the rush of Cameron Jordan #97 of the California Golden Bears during the first quarter at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on October 16 2010 in Los Angeles California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)

showing up as the best value left on the board; Cameron Jordan DE from California.

The Lions do have some holes to fill in their starting twenty-two, but the players available at Cornerback [Jimmy Smith and Brandon Harris] and Outside Linebacker [Akeem Ayers] are not good value for the Lions at # 13. There is a potential long term need for an Offensive Tackle, but # 13 is way too early to pick an OT that will sit on the bench behind Jeff Backus and Gosder Cherilus. The Lions do have Jason Fox as a developmental Tackle who they picked last year, but he is very much an unknown quantity right now. If the Lions go OT, it means that Cherilus' knee is far worse than we are being told. I'll be optimistic and assume that he will be 100% when the season starts.

The Lions will choose Cameron Jordan DE because he is the best player left on the board that fits into their defensive scheme. He is a top ten talent that can play almost every position on the D Line. He will immediately become a part of the Lions DE rotation behind KVB and Cliff Avril. He has a lot of the same qualities that KVB brought to Detroit; a non-stop motor, size, strength, and speed. Jordan will be another great addition to the outstanding D Line that Schwartz and Mayhew are building.
