Report: Jaguars Release Tyron Brackenridge

According to Tyron Brackenridge's twitter feed, he is no longer with the Jacksonville Jaguars. A few moments ago, Brackenridge tweeted:

It's been an enjoyable ride.. But my time here in Jacksonville is done. Thank you JagNation for all your love and support.

Brackenridge was a combo defensive back for the Jaguars playing both cornerback and safety, as well as being a pretty solid special teams player. With the emminent signing of Dawan Landry, the Jaguars will need to begin purging defensive backs.

Would’ve rather released Carey and see what T.Brack could do outside of the Nickel.

I’d rather keep Brackenridge and get rid of Don Carey

Brack was a cool dude, why keep Carey over him?

We kept Carey because he's still young and last year was his rookie season from a play standpoint

I dont necessarily like it but i can see the logic. With brack we kind of knew what we would get. We have no idea if Carey will develop or not. Plus, wasn’t he playing out of position last year? Wasnt he supposed to be a CB who was thrown into the FS role due to necessity. I’m just trying to give a different opinion on here.

Yeah I hear ya

That guy was just atrocious last year, I’m having flashbacks typing this.

We Kept Carey Because

Gene believes that Carey has a higher Ceiling than T-Brack

OR

Because Gene made an ass move of snatching him up when the Browns waived him injured. Gene seems like a proud guy and I doubt he wants to admit that his shady move was all for nothing.

i think Gene will do whatever it takes to make this team better

I think his pride has nothing to do with it. I think he truly believes Carey has potential.

IF Brackenridge was truly a better player

then wouldn’t they moved him to FS last year instead of Carey?

Well….yeah…I guess lol, you guys seriously want to see Carey on the field again?

i didnt say that

I’m just saying that Carey obviously has a lot of potential because i dont think Gene would let his pride get in the way of making this team better. He was a rookie and he was playing out of position. I think Gene sees a high ceiling/ floor for Carey and we already knew what we were getting in Brack. Plus, dont forget our pass rush was horrible last year after Kampman went down and we really didnt have great LB play either. Therefore, that totally f’d over our CB and S’s so i think Carey kind of got screwed over by being thrown into that in his first year. If he doesnt show improvement this year, then he should be cut.

Cool

I can go with that.

Ass Move?

Not at all. The Browns made an “ass move” by not locking him down on IR. They tried to get cute and cried foul when it backfired. Lol, their ass move backfired. Happy Friday.

Ok

Good guy and everything, but we added 3 DBs this offseason so someone had to go. Thanks T Brack. Good luck in the future.

With all the FA signings the #Jaguars have done and all the cut they’re still “roughly” $25mil under the cap.
