According to multiple reports on twitter, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran guard Vince Manuwai. Manuwai reported to camp with a foot injury and out of shape and was placed on the non-football injury list. As I wrote earlier today, the Jaguars brass was not happy with the revelation and wound up coming to terms with veteran interior linemane Jason Spitz last night during practice.
It was a good run for Manuwai, but in the end injuries did him in. He had never fully recovered from his torn ACL back in 2008 and has struggled with nagging injuries that led him to reporting to camp out of shape. I'd expect Manuwai to be picked up by a team at some point if he can get himself into shape, as he still has some good football left in him, but it was clear the Jaguars front office had had enough. Cutting Manuwai saves the Jaguars $2.9 million in salary.
Good luck Vince.
