Report: Jaguars Agree to Terms with Dawan Landry

Stay connected for news and updates

According to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens safety Dawan Landry.

The Jaguars have reached an agreemen in principle with safety Dawan Landry of the Ravens and he figures to step in and start. Landry is fthe fifth UFA to agree to terms, joining linebackers Paul Posluszny and Clint Session, guard Jason Spitz and punter Matt Turk.

As Stellino mentions, I would expect Landry to be an opening day starter. The only question is, which safety position will Landry start at and who will start opposite him? Yesterday in practice, Michael Hamlin and Don Carey were manning the two starting safety positions. Many feel that the Jaguars are high on safety Courtney Greene, who's in the mold of the classic strong safety position, which is the position most feel Landry is best fit for.

Landry will add a veteran leadership presence to the defense, and comes from an ultra-aggressive playmaking defense in the Ravens. Landry has started at safety for the Ravens since 2006 and has 9 interceptions in his career. He's known for being a sure tackler and big hitter.
