Luke McCown's Trade Value

The Jaguars have always kept 2 QBs on the roster.  Besides last year, when Trent and Bouman were both backing up Garrard after McCown got hurt.  We drafted our QB of the future this past year, and we have Garrard to start in front of him.  Incase Garrard gets hurt, do you want a proven QB to step in, and attempt at leading this team to victory, or the rookie Gabbert?  Blaine being in a live regular season game, would only help him develop.  And there are a lot of talented players in camp this year, but we can only keep 53, so it'll be hard to keep 3 QBs on the roster.  Obviously the starter won't leave, the rookie QB of the future won't leave, so the backup has to leave...

Luke McCown is a proven player, and can be quite good at times.  Instead of just cutting him, we can trade him to a team that needs a veteran QB.  Carolina currently doesn't have a veteran QB to start in front of their rookie Cam Newton.  Their oldest QBs are Tony Pike and Jimmy Clausen.  Entering their second years...

Tavaris Jackson is in Seattle, but he's injury prone, and Charlie Whitehurst will probably end up having to start there.  Miami has the injury-prone Chad Pennington, and inconsistent Chad Henne.  There are teams out there, that can use a veteran quarterback.

Donavan McNabb got trade to the Vikings for a 6th round pick, and another 6th round pick conditionally.  Donavan McNabb is also inconsistent and Luke McCown can probably play better then him.

Kevin Kolb drew Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(equal to a late first rounder) and a 2nd round pick.  Kevin Kolb is also inconsistent and McCown can probably out play him as well.

If McCown isn't going to be on the roster, let him have a strong pre-season, and when the final cuts, come put him on the trading block.  He can easily draw a late 5th round pick, in my opinion.  What do you think?
