What's the scoop on Jordan Black?
Hello, everyone. Saints fan here, looking for fan input on Jordan Black. He's signed with the Saints, and I know nothing about him except that he's played for Kansas City (a team I don't follow), Houston (a team I don't follow), and Jacksonville (a team I don't follow). He's kinda like Jordan Black Hole, as far as information is concerned.
But I figure you guys--having cut him--probably know something the rest of the league might not be aware of. Does he have any upside? Does his downside have any limit? Are we screwed if we have to depend on him keeping blitzing linebackers off of Drew Brees?
Any input much appreciated.

I like to think of him as "(very) serviceable backup"
I definitely don’t think I would classify him as worthy of starting, but if he would need to “spot start” a game or two, not sure he would be too bad.
Should definitely be a back-up
Is a solid run-blocker. But struggles in pass protection. Should be okay in spot duty.

I don't even think
he was a serviceable backup. Last year we found 2 UDFA’s that were better than him. The best thing I can say about Black is that he’s a good guy with experience. I don’t think he’s very athletic and he’s definitely not strong at the point of attack. He was helped out a lot by scheme and Marcedes Lewis last year.
Our O-Line
is not top-notch. If we cut him…you kind of know what you’re getting. He doesn’t suck, but he is…lackluster to say the least.
He's a mauler in the run game.
He’s not the best pass blocker, lacks a little bit in the speed category, but he was a lot of fun to watch with the Jags. We used him primarily as a “tackle eligible” in the run game until Eben Britton got hurt and Black had to take over at RT. He won’t ever impress in pass protection so his ceiling is pretty low.

I'm willing to drink the Kool-ade, but I'm hungry for the truth.

he's horrible in pass-blocking
serviceability in run-blocking, he
s best off as a swing tackle, and a 6th lineman(TE),
"thanks for hating"
You all are good people for answering her questions. I would like to warn you that she is going to use it against you. I thank all of you for your participation.
There's a fine line between love and hate.
"when healthy" is the main reason they're now former Jaguars
Jarrett Dillard and Eben Britton need to take notice.
+1
It’s why I provided the caveat. lol
I’m not worried about Dillard as much as Britton. Dillard had a couple bone breaks that usually don’t bother players long term, while Britton had a shoulder problem and disc problem. Both of which could be long term problems. On the plus side, I think Whimper is a better player anyhow.
