Jaguars David Garrard Returns to Practice

Stay connected for news and updates

Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback David Garrard returned to practice today and participated fully. Garrard had been out of practice since August 4th, when he went down in practice with a back injury. Initially, the injury was thought to have been just a strained back and the coaching staff thought Garrard would play in the team's scrimmage two days later. Garrard missed the scrimmage and the next few practices, causing the team to bring in a familiar face in veteran Todd Bouman.

Garrard practiced fully today, but his status for Friday's game against the Atlanta Falcons is still up in the air, but I would expect as long as he has no set backs during the week, he'll get the start. One area of concern however, is that Garrard's "strained back" went from a sore back to a disc issue. Garrard made mention that his back pain is chronic and the lockout prevented him from getting proper treatment. His back issue will be one to watch, because disc issues tend to flare up rather easily.
