Jaguars Training Camp Round Up
Let's take a spin around the internet to see what others are saying about the Jacksonville Jaguars during training camp.
Gene Frenette: Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert sure looks like an NFL player | jacksonville.com
Think of this as stirring a quarterback development, not a controversy, because it’s way too early to be nudging David Garrard aside. But I’m actually starting to wonder if the Washington Redskins and head coach Mike Shanahan had one stupendous brain cramp on NFL Draft night.
Jaguars Notebook: Defense being paid handsomely | jacksonville.com
Maybe the Jaguars should change their colors from teal to bright green. In their spending spree in the last week, they guaranteed $49 million in contracts to four players whose deals totaled $113.5 million. That's a lot of green.
Broncos sign Derrick Harvey | ProFootballTalk
A former Jacksonville Jaguars draft bust has found a new home in Denver. The Broncos have signed defensive end Derrick Harvey, who was released last week by the Jaguars.
A good early vibe - Jaguars news on jaguars.com
He’s taking a wait-and-see approach, and in this case, Aaron Kampman said that’s something to be excited about.
Marcedes Lewis talks dollars - AFC South Blog - ESPN
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Marcedes Lewis rejoined the Jaguars today and could have a new deal soon. Here’s the news story I did on it. I hustled off for an interview with general manager Gene Smith when Lewis talked more with the team’s beat reporters.
Quick hits from Jaguars evening practice - AFC South Blog - ESPN
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A couple quick thoughts off the Jaguars evening practice… Running back Deji Karim probably had the best snap in a pass protection drill, fending off linebacker Alvin Bowen. It’s a drill that heavily favors defense. Greg Jones was also good and tight end Zach Miller was not, unsurprisingly.

Sorry, but I still take much of what Frenette writes with a grain of salt
Gabbert has shown flashes and he definitely zips the ball unlike any Jags qb I’ve seen aside from Rob Johnson, but I still need to see how he does when the defense is wearing different helmets. One thing’s for sure, when these FA acquisitions get in, it’s only going to make our qbs better as they’re going against a hell of a better total defense than they are now.
So with this trainging camp BOOM, our top rookies looking like they’ve been in the NFL for more then a couple of weeks and are vets shinning like we knew that they could, what’s next? All of our positions are seemingly set up already, does Gene have one last move to make this JagNation go WOW?
I think he might
There’s a wideout from San Diego who is still available, Morrison or some similar linebackers might still be available for the vet minimum for depth, Odom from Cincy is out there. I figure the longer these guys stay FAs, that’s hundreds of thousands of dollars they’re losing daily.
The kid is going to be
Freakin awesome

I was talking to a co-worker.....
who said he was a season ticket holder for the first 5 years and he has never been to a live game since. He said this is the first time since then that he is inclined to buy season tickets again.
That says everything to me.
If I were Wayne Weaver
During the scrimmage, I’d announce that for a limited time (2-3 weeks), I am bringing back the 30 for 30 plan. I think people would jump at it now vice 2 years ago.
