...how our beloved WR Troy Williamson led the 2009 NFL pre-season in receiving yards... and proceeded to do nothing for the franchise or any other team ever again. I currently have as many 2011 receiving yards as he does. Pre-season stats are deceitful.
Would I be worried if we were 3 games into the regular season, our record was 1-2, our quarterback was sucking, and we had 0 sacks? Yes. But that's not where we are. This prelude to the 16 game marathon that is the NFL regular season is very different. Garrard will succeed when he's throwing 185 yards per game and gets a lot of help on the ground. The defense will be better when the front four are in their healthy rotation of D-ends with Kampman, Roth, Mincey, and Lane. That will make the secondary better and opposing offenses worse. It's almost impossible for that NOT to happen.
I don't think the regular season is going to be as bad as it looks right now. I also don't think it's going to be as good as we all hope. Just take a deep breath, everyone. It's not "just the pre-season", but it certainly isn't the regular season. We have the whole fall to panic and be angry, there's no reason to start now.
