Jaguars To Bring Back QB Todd Bouman

Dan Hicken and Tony Boselli of 1010XL on Sports Final Radio earlier today hinted at and speculated the Jacksonville Jaguars would be bringing back quarterback Todd Bouman. With the injury to Jaguars quarterback David Garrard (back) still lingering, the Jaguars needed to bring in a third quarterback, just in case for Thursday night's game against the New England Patriots. The speculation was later confirmed at practice today by various reporters on the scene.
"We made a call back to the tractor," Del Rio told reporters.
David Garrard will travel with the team, but it is unlikely he will play at all. The plan is to split the reps between Blaine Gabbert and Luke McCown, with Gabbert getting the start.
Also, Jack Del Rio told reporters that tight end Marcedes Lewis will travel with the team, but he is considering sitting him out for the game. Lewis came to practice last week and signed his new deal late in the week. It makes sense with him only having a few days of actual practice. Maurice Jones-Drew and Aaron Kampman on the other hand will not travel with the team.

So what's going on?
I know they won’t make it public but how bad is Garrard’s back? Are Mojo and Kampman going to be able to play in the other presesaons games… when are they going to be in the team drills/practice?
And yeah Bouman knows the system, but wouldn’t they only hunt him down to sign if they were thinking Garrard won’t be ready for the actual season and Gabbert as he know isn’t a viable option considering his lack of NFL playing time…
This leaves A LOT of questions left unanswered and raises more with the season practically a month away…

Is there a reason? I can’t imagine not wanting to be present as a player even if you aren’t in pads.

That guy won me over with his gritty play at Kansas City last year. If the defense could have stopped the run that day, Bouman would have got himself a win.

No 1st string QB, RB, TE, DE. I wonder if the Pats are in a similar position or if we will look like some fools. I guess these preseason games are all about deciding which WRs to keep.
He is an upgrade over a guy like Trent Edwards.....
