I don't know if anyone heard Jack Del Rio on his radio show several weeks ago, but he said something interesting. When asked about the Gabbert vs. Garrard quarterback battle, he replied. "David is our starter, but if you want to ask me which quarterback had the best traing camp, that will be Luke McCown".
So that made me think. If David Garrard struggles in the first few games and Blaine shows no progression in the preseason, I think Luke is the guy putting down the clipboard. If it wasn't for a knee injury, Garrard probably wouldn't be here. After David gets pulled out of the game in San Diego last year, Luke lead the team right down the field and gets hurt. Before then, he was showing great signs in the preseason. After coming back from surgery, he has came back with a focus. With a solid training camp and a nice cameo in the Atlanta game, don't be suprised if Luke has a great night against the Rams.
I want Gabbert to Start, but he has to take the starting position. If Garrard continues to look bad through out 3-4 weeks, dont be suprised if they call on Luke.
