The Jaguars confirmed today what Alfie posted last night and signed wide receiver Chastin West off of the Green Bay Packers practice squad. The move requires the Jaguars to keep West active for at least three games during this season. West accumulated eight receptions and 153 yards in preseason including a 97 yard touchdown reception from Matt Flynn.
To make room for West the Jaguars have released undrafted rookie wide receiver Jamar Newsome. Newsome was activated in each of the first two games of the season for the Jaguars, contributing mostly on special teams. He was targeted just once as a receiver in the week two game against the Jets, although the pass from Luke McCown fell incomplete.
I would guess that Newsome will most likely be signed to the Jaguars practice squad in the likely event that he clears waivers, although it's anyone's guess who the Jaguars would release to make room.
