The Jaguars have not had a pass completed for more than 40 yards so far in 2011. They had the 7th fewest of these types of plays in 2010, the 9th fewest in 2009 and the absolute fewest in 2008. The Jaguars just simply haven't been a team to take many shots down the field in recent years, but that might finally change with Blaine Gabbert set to start.
Wide receiver Mike Thomas reportedly told Pete Prisco that the Jaguars expanded their playbook on Wednesday to include more deep passing. Prisco said that this fact was confirmed by coaches when he spoke to them later.
It has been said by Jack Del Rio and Dirk Koetter, himself, that Koetter tailors his offense to the talents of his quarterback and clearly the Jaguars feel that arm strength is among Gabbert's talents. It was, after all, his golden arm that made him a top 10 pick in the draft.
Now the question is, who's going to be the recipient of these passes?
