In efforts to trim the final roster to 53 players, the Jacksonville Jaguars will release cornerback Terrence Wheatley. Wheatley tweeted earlier that he had been informed of his release. He was a former 2nd round draft pick of the New England Patriots and a player that the Jaguars had shown a lot of interest in pre-draft. Wheatley was waived by the Patriots mid-season in 2010 after battling injuries much of the 2008, 2009, and 2010 season.
The Jaguars signed Wheatley go a two year contract on November 8th, 2010, but Wheatley played just one game before hitting injured reserve. Wheatley was OK in camp and preseason, but he just didn't do enough to stick on the Jaguars roster.
