Jaguars Roster Cuts: 15 down, 12 to go
There have been 14 confirmed releases so far, with 13 more to come before the Jaguars will reach their 53 man roster. Yesterday BCC posted about the reported releases of DT Andrew Lewis, RS Scotty McGee, WR Dontrelle Inman, LB Scott Lutrus, TE Joey Haynos and WR Armon Binns. This morning Alfie posted about the release of CB Terrence Wheatley.
There have been eight more releases since then, with some of these players told that they will be signed to the practice squad if they clear waivers.
I have learned that the Jaguars have released OT Daniel Baldridge and RB DuJuan Harris. Harris was told by the Jaguars that he would be signed to the practice squad if he cleared waivers. Baldridge also has practice squad eligibility after spending the his rookie season in 2010 there.
RB Albert Young was released on Friday and was the only roster move officially announced by the Jaguars to make room for Fred Taylor on the roster.
DE Larry Hart was released by the Jaguars after 1.5 career sacks with the team after being selected in the 5th round of the 2010 Draft. The release was reported by his agent on Twitter.
TE Tommy Gallarda was told he was to be released on Friday night as reported by Tania Ganguli. Ganguli also tweeted today that Gallarda has been told that he will be placed on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
TE Kyle Miller was also released Friday during roster cuts as reported by Tania Ganguli.
LB Michael Lockley was released by the Jaguars as reported by National Football Post's Aaron Wilson. Wilson also said that the Jaguars intend to sign Lockley to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Lastly, CB Jalil Johnson was released by the Jaguars as reported by Ganguli.
Other notable information came from players that have said they are still on the Jaguars.
Safety Matt Estrada posted on his Facebook page this morning: "
Also Richard Murphy posted on his Twitter: "Officially a jag!! #BLESSED" Murphy's status as a member of the final 53 or the practice squad has also not been confirmed.

Harris over Murphy is a little confusing
but the fact that either is making the team must mean bad news about Jennings
"I love lamp"
I reread it
So Harris is on PS which is better than nothing. Sucks about Larry hart, I knew him in real life and on xbox. Thought he was better than Morgan

Jennings will be out for a couple of weeks
I think they like Murphy a little better because he is a little bigger and better in pass protection.

I have a question
Jacob ford has been cut, would it be smart for the jags to sign him? Still young, 15.5 sacks in 3 years , id lovvve to add him to the rotation

He was waived/injured
If the Jaguars signed him he’s probably too injured to play in 2011 and would probably have to be stashed away on IR.

Wouldnt it still be a good pick up?
I think hes solid in a good rotation, hence the 15.5 sacks? Whats your take on brandon meriweather?
by amujic32 on Sep 3, 2011 3:49 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Didn't say it wouldn't be a good move
Just worth noting.
As for Meriweather, I just don’t see it happening. As great as it would be to have a guy like that in the secondary, he just doesn’t sound like someone Gene Smith would be interested in. Keep in mind, the Patriots wouldn’t cut a two time Pro Bowler for no reason. Also worth noting he’s had some moments of questionable character.

Yeah I agree
I was disagreeing, I was just saying because hes young and good.
Also meriweather , your right, just a alane, waste of talent

I don't think it was
all off the field problems. Merriweather made too many mistakes that cost the team too many big plays.
Baldridge cut ? So our backup tackles consist of Moll, Whimper(who is probably starting) and Bradfield ?
you are the bradfield fairy dust drug?

No way this team keeps 3 FBs.
He need Owens, he can run, block and is one of the best STs in the game.
Bolen is the classic lead blocking fullback and he can catch.
Greg is not a RB anymore, only plays lead blocking FB, and not much else. He’s gone me thinks.
Jomes is in a class by himself when it comes to blocking
frankly I think Bolen is the one fans have such a man crush on. I haven’t been that impressed with him, and I don’t think he deserves a roster spot.

Bolen
wasn’t all that impressive this year, but going back to last year he was impressive then, and he’s been solid this year. Didn’t have enough time on the field to be impressive. Keep in mind Bolen made some nice tackles on special teams. And he has great hands. He’s not all that different from Peyton Hillis. And I was one of the first guys to say Hillis was a star starting his rookie year.
Speaking of rosters...
Mark Herzlich made the 53 man on NY Giants.
Keep doubting him, haters. He will keep proving he’s a beast.

Hahaha...pretty sure you said he wouldn't make a team.
So…yeah, you probably could’ve relaxed with your analysis.
It’s all good. He is going to be a very good player. Very soon.
And you were hating.
Fidelis Ad Mortem
Pretty sure
you’re wrong. I wanted to sign him. And I thought he could make our team.
In fact he was like 1 or 2 in my UDFA’s list that I wanted.
I will take your word for it...
but there was a lot of doubters on this site when I was giving him love.
