Importance of short yardage plays

We have all the seen the Jaguars offense struggle. Those struggles can be pinned on various things, such as a rookie QB or the fact that we have average receivers. But one area that I thought the Jaguars were doing well in was short yardage downs, unfortunately I was wrong.

These stats seem to say that Jaguars have had significant troubles in short yardage third and fourth down plays. Our percentage of plays converted are almost 18% below an average team(percentage rank wise) in the Colts.

For being a team known for such success in the running game, it seems as though we are struggling to run well when we really need to. In order for the Jaguars to become an at least average offense that percentage much get a lot better.
