Jaguars Depth Chart: Some Interesting Notes
The Jacksonville Jaguars official site has a new updated depth chart. There's no real surprises on it, but there are some interesting notes. Remember last week when everyone was making a big deal about Blaine Gabbert being the third quarterback? Well, on the depth chart he's listed as the second quarterback, with Luke McCown as the third. Does that mean if David Garrard gets hurt on Sunday, Gabbert will come in the game in relief? Probably not. Early in the season, Jack Del Rio is more likely to go with the veteran McCown in spot duty when necessary.
At the runningback position with Rashad Jennings hitting injured reserve, Montell Owens is listed as the third runningback with Brock Bolen as the second fullback.
Newly acquired safety Dwight Lowery is listed as the primary back up at strong safety, with rookie Chris Prosinski as the primary free safety.
Deji Karim and Jamar Newsome are listed as the kick returners with rookie Cecil Shorts III as the primary punt returner.

Landry is the starting FS
Chris is his backup. I’m calling it now, the safety positions are not set, these will all change.
i would like to see
FS: Lowery, Prosinski, Issac
SS: Landry, Greene

Long term
I think our best situation would be Issac at FS with Prosinski at SS. Both have great speed and physicality. Landry isn’t great at any one thing, other than hitting hard, because he isn’t super good in coverage or even a great tackler; but he makes plays. Surprisingly for someone of his build I think he is better in coverage because of the mental side of his game.
For the future they probably are the starters at FS and SS. I just wonder is Prosinski might be better at FS since that’s what he played at Wyoming and he honestly might be better in coverage than Issac who I think is a better hitter even if he doesn’t have the prototypical size for a SS.

McCown goes in if Garrard goes down, but in garbage time, put gabbert in.

i read it from tania i think...
that jags will use him on passing downs, because he’s good in coverage, so greene can play up in the box on run downs, and on passing downs coleman can ballhawk. And there is a big surprise on here, Roth is playing backup for Kampman, I thought he was starting across.

Bradfield was handling cats with ease...
I am glad the coaches saw what I saw. He can also play RT.

Bradfield can be a good swing tackle for us.
He’s a solid blocker thus far, and hes fast for a lineman, he runs a 4.81 at 301 lbs.

He caught my eye in the Buffalo game, so I can only grade the last two games but...
he gets an A, hands down. I have all 4 preseason games on DVR so I will go back and look.

Would have really liked him to get work with the 1's though.
Another thing I liked was Robert Quinn jumped offsides and Bradfield stayed still because he knew the snap count. He went ahead and moved anyways because he knew we would draw the penalty. He is smart too.

thats funny
because when i was in pop warner, they told us to never move until the right snap count. So one game, a DT jumps off sides(yes I was on O-Line, because of that douchebag-coach, i was good at DL, but because I was a better blocker then most of our team; which I wasn’t good our O-Line just sucked) and he knocks me on the ground, and we get a penatly, and my teamates are laughin at me saying i got knocked on my ass, and im soft, etc. and my dad got mad at me too. But I just did what I was told to do, but anyway, thats doesn’t necessarily make him smart, I think every lineman in the NFL will react to it.

Lowery should be the back up at this point...
can’t be a starter if you don’t know the playbook. I think before the season in they’ll have him at FS and Landry at SS.
