Brace for impact.

Ok. So, by around this time David Garrard is cleaning out his locker and probably on the phone with his agent shopping around the NFL for a new job. Where does that leave the Jacksonville Jaguars and the 2011 season?

In the hands of Luke McCown.

So, who is this Luke McCown guy?

Drafted in 2004, he played in 5 games for the Browns, completing 48 of 98 passes for 608 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He didn't play another game until 2007 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He actually had a few decent games for the Buccaneers in 2007. He again played in 5 games that year, but this time threw for 94/139 with 1,009 yards 5 TD and 3 INT. He had a 91.7 QB Rating that year. Not too shabby.

However, since the 2007 season, he has only played in 5 games and thrown 23 total passes. The Jaguars kept him on the roster despite an ACL injury in 2010.

And now here we are. It has not been a huge secret that the Jaguars have had their QB troubles over the years. Some people believe that McCown can not possibly make that situation any worse.

And others believe that McCown is a disaster waiting to happen. Let's call him a Tropical Storm for now, with potential to be a Category 4 Hurricane.

I think one thing that all Jaguars fans can agree on, is that Blaine Gabbert is our future. Garrard is no longer clouding that future, but McCown is. For how long is the question.
