We are in year 3 of rebuilding, the year we should start seeing results. I believe Gene has managed to come close to replacing the 2007 defense that led the Jaguars to a 12-4 season. Three key peices to that defense was Stroud, Henderson and Mike Peterson. Plus Rashean's pro bowl year, but that's another story.
1. Knighton
Now in his third year will continue to show he is one of the best unknown DT's in the league, now that he has his weight under wraps. What a steal he was out of Temple in the 3rd round! He will face double teams this year, but it will not be often because of the next guy.
2. Alualu
Year two, top 10 pick, needs to show me his worth and I have no doubt he is ready to go in beast mode. I really hope his knee is fine, if so that spells trouble for opposing guards and centers. He has shown signs this year he is ready to dominate and show why he was a top 10 pick. What is awesome is he will have the advantage of playing next to Knighton. Pick you poison! Chris Johnson will have difficulty dodging the Jags AK (Alualu and Knighton for the people that are slow).
3. Poz
The final piece to the puzzle. Kirk Morrison tried to fill this role last year, but we found out that we just need to stop doing trades with the Raiders permanently. Poz is a guy that plays with fire and has enough athletic ability to shed blockers and make tackles. He will run free on Tennessee all day because he plays behind AK.
When Jack said his defense will be good, its because they will stop the run this year. Its up to the secondary to determine if they will be a great defense.
