MY Take on the Offseason

Since everyone else is making their list on what they would like to see happen in free agancy and the draft, here is my wish list: In Free Agency: I know this is a real wish list, but we have to spend money ala the new owners/players contract, so here goes 1. Carl Nicks- we need an O-lineman bad, and this stud is out there, and we need him, all the Nfl anylists say we have the least amount of talent on the oline in the NFL, well this would help, and most mocks have us picking up a center in the draft so this is a bonus 2. Reggie Wayne- Yeah I know, he is old, and with our history of picking up washed up players, this pick could seem terrible, but Wayne is still crafty, has some speed left, and catches almost anything thrown his way, and his experience, would help us against the colts once Peyton is back, and he could mentor the young draft picks WE HAD BETTER pick up in this draft 3. Pierre Garcon- he is quick talented, and CATCHES the ball, and to steal yet another weapon from indy would quite honestly, make me giddy In the Draft: This list I have compiled based on looking at MANY mock drafts: 1.Morris Claiborne or Robert Griffin whichever is left on the board when we are up, Claiborne seems to be the one most have us picking, and he would help in so many ways, but honestly as bad as our drafts have turned out recently, I would love to see Griffen picked here, even if Blaine steps up in year 2, we could still use griffin as a WR, and send him deep to open up lanes for other people(MJD< Thomas, and our new "other" Wr's) and we would also be able to use him, in "special" situations like 3rd and short, or 4th and short etc(wildcat etc), and lets face it we need a "splash" in this years draft, to gain momentum, for ticket sales, and just for some buzz around OUR TEAM 2. Alshon Jeffery- I like blackmon better, but most drafts have him going to the Rams right now, and floyd being gone by the second round, so this leaves Jeffery, who isnt bad, but we need to revamp our whole Wr corps, and Jeffery would help, he has good size, and decent speed, and seems strong enough to create seperation(our one huge problem is undersized, weaker wr's) I know Sanu is another option at this point in the draft, but I wasnt impressed by his hands in the bowl game, Kendall Wright would also be nice at this spot if availaible, but again in the bowl game, he didnt impress(everyone else was scoring, why not him? he had one, but with his supposed talent?) 3. Michael Brewster- this one is a reach, as he probably wont be there, but he is a gene pick, and a top center in the draft, so? another possible option is Vlachos from Bama, WE need a replacement for Meester(who I love, but is getting old, and we need a top notch replacemnt for him at some point-now) 4. Ty Hilton- is amazing, and would also improve our special teams, this one should be a no brainer 5. Eric Page (wr, university of toledo) This guy I have watched on tv for four years, and he just makes plays, he is much like hilton, and has good run after the catch skills, and just is a star, and as I have noted before, university of toledo wr's are good in the NFL, Lance Moore, Stephen williams etc, page could also make our special teams a whole lot better, and again we need to revamp our wr corps from top to bottom-speed seperation, and yds after catch 6. Killen Moore- If we dont get griffin, we need another young backup qb to push gabbert, and lukes brother seems better then luke(sorry luke but its my opinion) UFDA's We need to bring in some running backs and some DE's to shore up our already great running game, and our pass rush, I like what we have but we can find a gem, and honestly Karim should be gone, and Lane should find himself out of a job next year too(he is always out of position, I like his heart, but heart dont= sacks) Anyways thats my take on things< I enjoy reading other peoples wish lists on here, so I figured I would do one myself- Gene you had better start picking some div 1 talent, this year instead of "hoping" div 2 or 3 players "pan out" we need a stellar draft, and a great FA, lets get it done, and get back to playing JAGUAR FOOTBALL, AND MAKE THE "ANALYSTS"EAT THEIR WORDS!!! GO JAGUARS, AND THANKS TO MR KHAN, FOR HIS LOYALTY TO THE JACKSONVILLE FANS

sorry

sorry about the format, thats not how I wrote it up, and I tried to change it in editing, but nothing seemed to work, I guess I need to either get some more computer skills, or write some shorter posts

aaargh.. not the “mentoring” thing again with an older WR… didn’t work out very well for us with Torry “Crooked Finger” Holt… the fewer band-aids, the better

Yes. I am tired of giving aging vets $11 mil and $14 mil to play half the game and catch 0 tds

But then use the excuse of not cutting jdr bc he was too expensive. You paid porrter $11 mil for nothing but to buy out jacks $10 mil was too expensive. Kampman just got $14 mil for what, 10 games over two years?

I would like to introduce you to my fried the enter button

He allows your posts to look more respectable and not just a huge block of words. All you have to do press him twice after you finish a paragraph or statement. Or if your copying and pasting, you can click your mouse to the end of a paragraph or statement and then press him twice.

But anyway, this… something.

1) who are these analysts that say we have the worst o-line talent in the league? Never heard that anywhere.. like at all, not even a hint towards that in the least.

2) Griffin does not want a to be a WR, that would be a dumb move. If your going to draft him, it would be to a QB and thats it.

3) Jeffery won’t make it to the 2nd round.

4) Our receivers’ problem is not that they are undersized, its that they don’t run routes and catch balls.

5) All of his first round picks as well as the majority of his picks have been D-1 prospects, so that comment was stupid.

And finally, you can’t judge a draft class until after a couple years, so your question makes no sense at all. Unless your going to go by what Kiper’s draft grade is.

Greenbay had 25 on their Superbowl team roster last year

We actually don't have that many D 2 players

its just when ignorant people see one or two they somehow turn it into 15. And like the guy below said, Green Bay had 25 and won a SB and went 15-1 this year, I guess they don’t know what they are doing huh?

that whole post was unrealistic

Nicks is not coming here. Garcon is not coming here. RG3 is not coming here.

Love the enthusiasm , but all wrong

Free agency,, look at genes track record, he loves players going into there 2nd contract, paul pos, landry, lowery, etc,,reggie wayne makes little sense unless he is CHEAPP, and garcon makes no sense at all. Wayne will cost in the same area as Dwayne Bowe, Stevie Johnson, Desean Jackson and Vincent Jackson, all FA, all 25-27, we have the money, if we want a top wr we can get one, i prefer Bowe, everything he has done has been with a sub par QB,Stevie johnson a close 2nd…either one would instantly make our offense better,i would not even offer wayne, garcon,or desean jackson, if o line stays healthy, we are a younf center away from having a young solid line, but clearly not biggest need , would be dumb to sign the most expensive lineman in the FA class,Then we should sign 1 morw top FA, CLIFF AVRIL DE, from JACKSONVILLE FL had 11 sacks this yr, read that lions most likely wont sign him due to other needs, and thats there stongest position. it just makes since, sign BOWE and ANVRIL, (will cost about same as poslunsky and landry) Then we pray RG3 falls to 7 so we have massive trade back power, if he doesnt, trent richardson wil and the browns want him, they have 2 first rounders, best case we swap 7- for 21, and get there 36th pick too.pro football talk article stated we will be shopping mike thomas for a 3rd rounder, i say we trade him or marcedes if we can get a 3rd-best case we have pick 21-36-39-71 and antoher 3rd— draft picks, if we sign bowe get mike floyd or kendall wright at 21 (if jeffrey is gone) if we get steve johnson, use pick 21 for best avaiable CB, dre kirkpatrick, alfonso denard, janoris jenkins, or mark barron at S-use first 2nd rounder on sanu or nick toon would compliment better to johnson- sure up line with other 2nd rounder Peter Konz C- then if it was me, i would trade 5th and 6th pick for 3rd round, next yrs, our next yr 4th,this yrs 7th, if we can get another 3rd—i know u think im playing a video game, but for the past 8 yrs have drafted no one significant in the 5th round or the 7th,-all our picks that make the team 1st 4th, gene has had his most sucsess 2nd and 3rd-…so why not have 3 3rd rounders and 1 4th-this WR class is crazy, we could dwight jones, marvin mcnutt, ryan broyles, brian quick, lamichael james, tommy streeter, etc etc,—if we can trade back to gain picks, and work with those, to get 7 picks in the first 100,would be money—i should be a GM

Florio says we are shopping Thomas for a 3rd?

If they said that, then it must not be true.

by Slawsc on Jan 2, 2012 10:25 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

I would love to get a 3rd for Mike Thomas

I agree they should trade back where ever it may be and that they are a close to having a solid line. But on the 5-7 rounds, guys picked there rarely make it, its pretty much a crap shoot after the 4th.

What do you mean "in editing"?

Are you typing it here or pasting it from somewhere else? And you know you can preview before you post right.
