Mark Duffner to Remain Jaguars Linebackers Coach, According to Report
It looks like the Jaguars defensive coaching staff will be much of the same as Tania Ganguli reports that linebackers coach Mark Duffner will return for a 7th season with the Jaguars.

With Duffner set to return the Jaguars defensive staff will again feature Mel Tucker, Joe Cullen and Duffner at the forefront. An earlier tweet from Ganguli also said that Tucker's title with the Jaguars has been changed to assistant head coach.
Also, Mel Tucker's title has been upgraded. He is now an assistant head coach. #Jaguars

Tucker had an interview with the Minnesota Vikings for their defensive coordinator position before electing to return to the Jaguars as an assistant under Mike Mularkey. Tucker told the media: "I'm all in. I respect the decision that was made. I'm a low-ego guy. Mike Mularkey is a great choice for the Jaguars."

Another win for Jacksonville
Isn’t Duffner the Jaguars longest tenured coach?

Good for...
coach Tucker. He earned it after what he did with all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball and how he was able to hold the team together the last few weeks of the season.
Nice
I thought Mel was definitely deserving up the Asst. HC spot. That dawned on me last night.

How is our defensive backs coach?
It seemed like the backups came in pretty strong. The DBs only looked really weak when we were pulling off the scrap heap. Is our DB coach worth his salt?
agree, they looked pretty competitive until we were signing guys off the street
Thom Kaumeyer was db coach last year and with Jags since ‘08 (not sure if he’s been db coach the whole time). first couple years, one could say not an impressive job, but one must consider who the db’s on the roster were and that JDR was calling defense until this past year.
I’m liking the continuity on the defensive coaching staff. I think the d will be improved next year.

kaumeyer was only assistant db coach
…the real db-coach was Corey Undlin. I think he is pretty close to mel and therefore will be back.

lol read what tania wrote on twitter, Khan said one coach wanted to put the Jaguars in a derby against other teams, and Khan wasn't interested in that.
I wonder who khan was talking about lol
hard to say, because it's difficult to put much stock into a lot of the reports
but if they are to be believed, I’d guess one might be someone who’s apparently weighing offers between miami and st louis.

I'm inclined to think it was Fisher
There were reports early on in the coaching search that he was waiting for interest from the Jaguars and Buccaneers before he made a decision.

I’m hoping they spend big money on a QB coach.

Are we gonna be getting a new DB coach?
Cause the one we had this year wasn’t that bad considering the play of the safeties and all the backups we played. Definitely exceptional play.

I will say this
I was hoping for a certain coach to come here obviously, but I am definitely encouraged by what I have seen so far. There are no ego’s, hard feelings, or drama as it appears. Mel is a class guy, almost sorry he did not get the shot. But I believe in Mularkey, and hope that with some FA additions and a solid draft , we may be closer than many believe.. Hope we get a solid QB and OL coach and are able to secure a couple solid/#1 type WR’s. OL is crucial too. Things are looking up, exciting time to be a Jaguar fan!

Smart move by Mel Tucker
If he puts together another top 10 defense he could be interviewing for HC positions next year, not just a DC position. With a little more experience he will be ready to be a HC, and what better guy to learn from than a guy like Mularkey who made the jump to HC too soon, went back to coordinating, and is back to being a HC. I really think that this move serves both the Jags and Mel Tucker’s interests very well.
