Want a playmaker? Maybe look at Missouri, the Show-Me state for some talent.
Why not take a shot on Micheal Egnew from Missouri? The kid can make plays and has played with Gabbert before already. Maybe we could get that 2 tight end thing going like the Patriots. Lewis could be our version of Gronkowski and Egnew our Hernandez. I think he would be good value in the 4th or 5th personally. He can even line up in the slot.
Seems like something Gene would do as well. I will say I may be somewhat biased because I live in Missouri and I am an avid Mizzou fan so I would love to see these guys hooking up again because they were very good together at Mizzou. Go Jags!
Another guy I would love is Marvin McNutt. I went to high school with him at Hazelwood Central. Great guy, doesn't get into any trouble and he has a TON of heart. Definitely a Gene guy if I ever saw one. Plus he's 6'4 with pretty good hands. Also, take into account that in high school he didn't play a single down at Wide Receiver, he was a QB. I think there is a lot more potential to grow with his route running and natural instincts at the position. Could very easily end up being a steal.

He may fall through the cracks
His blocking needs work
Trade Ankiel instead of Luddy!!! Why go buy an impact bat when we got one?

3rd
He won’t make it past the 3rd. That being said…. if Miller can’t stay healthy I’d be OK with using the 3rd round pick on this guy (especially if we trade back or we aquire picks that give us a mid 3rd rounder).
Lewis and Egnew in 2TE sets for passing, Lewis and Potter in 2TE sets for running.
It'd be a good pick...
…on a team lacking receiving threats, why not tie up your franchise QB, with his most productive receiver in college.

Our team is getting close to the point where we can draft BAP forreal without worrying about team needs
Our defense showed at the end of the season that it actually has pretty good depth and I expect Gene to add two or three more guys in FA. At least two of them should be on offense too. That means we will be close to being able to truly take the BAP without focusing on needs because we are building solid depth on the team. I do think Egnew would provide some quality playmaking ability. I don’t think we really need another blocking tight end since we just locked up Lewis. We have a pretty good run blocking team anyways so that wouldn’t be his strength. I would love to have a pass first tight end that can hopefully be healthy. Plus, a great tight end is huge in the passing game. I’’d expect us to look at a TE if we can find some good WRs early in the draft and FA.
Your connections to these two
are odd, because both have definitely gotten some buzz around these parts. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we ended up with both of them. I’m not saying it’s likely, but it is certainly possible.
