Coples is a lazy showpony with a sense of entitlement

Like all of the TarHeels of recent years.
He may be good but he may be Derrick Harvey

What could of happened; did.

Well, that’s a lot of assumptions there. Sense of entitlement? Wow.

Marvin Jones

isn’t lasting until the 6th round

I agree

Probably 3rd but he was there on the stupid DraftTek rankings so I snapped him up just like at a real draft. I got a bargain.

What could of happened; did.

What is it...

with people keep insisting Rackley be benched? The idea alone makes no sense to me.

by kjones407 on Jan 27, 2012 9:22 AM EST reply actions

Maybe it has something to do with the Pro Football Focus rankings

Where Rackley is one of the worst guards in the league.

What could of happened; did.

by Mullayo on Jan 27, 2012 4:18 PM EST up reply actions

One of the few times they were right. Rackley was pretty awful all season.

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 8:59 AM EST up reply actions

I cede the fact he had a poor year, but it doesn't follow that Rackley will be terrible forever...

And that’s what comes across when folks suggest moving him to backup. I think we’ll see a much improved Rackley this season, given the experience he’s gained and the off season work he will go through.

by muddyballs on Jan 28, 2012 9:43 AM EST up reply actions

Everytime...

someone says that, they never speak on the fact that he kept improving during the season.

by kjones407 on Jan 28, 2012 12:04 PM EST up reply actions

Just because the guy improved

Doesnt mean he’s the best man for the job, right now. Benching him is not giving up on him. He’s a 3rd round pick who was only starting because of injuries, so Im not really sure you could even call it benching. Most importantly, you gotta remember in the NFL only the elites’ jobs are safe, and sometimes not even they are. Remember how surprising the alualu-big hen situation was? Theres only a dozen guys that are guaranteed starters, if that many, and I wouldnt include Rackley in that group.

by Mr.Awesome on Jan 28, 2012 11:31 PM EST up reply actions

I honestly don't see all the love for Chris Redman either.

I don’t want a career backup teaching my starting QB anything, we already have McCown. “The left side of the bench is the most comfortable, if you keep the good work, you can be here one day.”

I think

it has more to do with the fact that he knows Mularkey’s system.

That makes sense.

Yet at the same time, won’t Bratkowski be designing the offensive scheme? I’m not sure who would be the better option out of McCown and Redman but to FRANKdubz point, even if Redman does come here, I wouldn’t want him trying to play the mentor role with Gabbert either.

by kjones407 on Jan 27, 2012 11:13 AM EST up reply actions

I think Mularkey knows Mularkey's system pretty well.

And if him and Bratkowksi can’t get to him, I think Gabbert isn’t as smart as we thought he was.

Coaches aren't around all the time

Plus, peer-assisted learning is a really effective method – especially for boys. The Japanese have a whole Sempai/Kouhai cukture based around it.

by Mullayo on Jan 27, 2012 4:17 PM EST up reply actions

I feel you.

But I want someone to groom him and teach him how to play well, not just adjust to a system. IMO, Redman would be a waste of money.

On the other hand...

McCown is likely gone, and we will need another QB. But I say draft one in rounds 4-7.

It’s not about grooming, it’s about having another guy as a sounding board.

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 8:59 AM EST up reply actions

These have nothing to do with eachother

Players dont groom other players. Redman is a guy Mularky has trusted before, who has done well in spot duty, and most importantly knows how to stay out of trouble off the field. If there’s anything a veteran could actually have an affect on Gabbert it will be leading by example in handling his personal issues and having a good attitude, but neither of those are issues Gabbert has. What Gabbert needs has a whole lot more to do with coaching than whoever the backup QB is. Redman is an ideal guy because he’s not gonna need time from the coaches. He’ll fit right in, and be exactly what you need as a backup.

Coples first round.

let's not swoon over him just yet

Derek Harvey also put up very impressive workouts. His Senior Bowl has impressed me, but there still is a lot of work to be done on this guy before being able to determine if he really is worth the #7 overall pick.

He added three...

new receivers. How doesn’t that address it enough? That’s more than enough if you ask me.

by kjones407 on Jan 27, 2012 11:49 AM EST up reply actions

I proven free agent and 2 draft picks...

in the fifth round or later. With the number of available good free agent receivers along with a draft that has several upper round receivers, still don’t think its addressing our wide receiver needs enough.

by Jaggernaut on Jan 27, 2012 12:34 PM EST up reply actions

Osgood

Osgood is good but he only plays 1 position not 2 and wr is the better of the 2 . Tight end needs some one else

Remenber it is not who you are , but what you do that defines you. GO JAGS

I would like another catching tight end too

Marcedes regression probably hurt our offense more than all the WRs together but I didn’t see a great one.

What could of happened; did.

by Mullayo on Jan 27, 2012 4:23 PM EST up reply actions

lets see
2(39) CB Chase Minnefield. Mathis may not return. Need a corner across from Cox. Minnefield is zone coverage stud but currently injured so hype is minimal and falls to here.

Yet the secondary is extremely effective in man, and drafting a zone CB would help how? Cox is still better at man

He's a bargain at the spot

We can’t fix all our problems in FA with Mr Mustache’s credit card… Unfortunately Rhett, life’s not like that… Good teams draft good players using some form of BPA.

What could of happened; did.

by Mullayo on Jan 27, 2012 4:27 PM EST up reply actions

How much “man” defense do you think they played?

(Hint: It wasn’t a whole lot).

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 9:01 AM EST up reply actions

judging

how cox was hurt most of the season, mostly zone. But when Cox came back against the Ravens…Mathis and Cox were great.
