Cordy Glenn starting Left Tackle

Looked great at practice all week could be sky rocketing his stock

by Jermaside4 on Jan 28, 2012 4:09 PM EST reply actions

I wouldn't mind drafting him

in the second round to play RT, assuming you could depend on him keeping his weight down. Still, I don’t think Gene would draft him. Just not his type of offensive lineman.

Wow

Couples

Is a guy I want to fall in love with, but I just don’t see the production

by BASE_D_JAGSS on Jan 28, 2012 5:50 PM EST reply actions

hes not that good

hes pretty good but he isnt amazing

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 28, 2012 5:57 PM EST up reply actions

The guy completely shut down an entire series in three plays. Stuffed runs. Took up throwing lanes and broke up passes.

What does he need to do to be “impressive”? Sack on every play?

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 6:50 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

on one of those plays he beat a piss poor attempt at a cut

and the stuffed run the running back ran into. hes GOOD but hes not GREAT

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 28, 2012 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

What’s “great”?

Sounds like you’re fishing.

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 7:52 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

mario williams...

coples is ray edwards. big physical LE good against the run and has some pass rushing, but who would take ray edwards in the top 10?

Cold Blooded

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 28, 2012 8:12 PM EST up reply actions

Lazy, lazy, lazy. Love lazy player comp draft evaluations.

by Alfie Crow on Jan 29, 2012 12:26 PM EST up reply actions

youre wrong

ray edwards in college-36 games, 18 starts-16
quinton coples in college-50 games, 26 starts-24 sacks

ray edwards in college-64 273
quinton coples in college 66 281

ray edwars runs a 4.8
Coples will run a 4.7-4.8

tell me again how they arent comparable?

are you saying

games/sack ratio, 40-time, and height/weight are all there is to determining what kind of player someone is.

when you take into account that

and their play style from watching both of them play then yeah
when litereally almost every attribute on and off the field is similar its safe to compare them

Cold Blooded

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 29, 2012 5:49 PM EST up reply actions

well I think the issue is that they do not have similar styles of play so that is the clincher in why the comparison is not good.

every game ive watched of either of them ive seen similaritys

edwards is quicker and coples is stronger but other than that i see a similar player much more than coples/julius peppers like everybody is saying

Out of the four

I’d go Quick before McNutt in the 2nd round. Would wait til the 4th round or so to pick Jones or Robinson. I’d have Marvin Jones a little ahead of Robinson right now.

Jags have speed at WR

They need WRs who can get separation and have good hands

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

They do

Every WR on the team’s roster outside of Robiskie, runs a 4.4 or better.

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 6:43 PM EST up reply actions

Jarred Dillard

Does not run a 4.4. Osgood certainly doesn’t. Shorts isn’t considered a burner either. This only guy who has any type of 2nd gear is Mike Thomas, and he’s more quick than fast.

BTW, it’s alot more to football speed than 40 time. See Matt Jones

by BASE_D_JAGSS on Jan 28, 2012 6:46 PM EST up reply actions

Osgood actually runs a 4.3, and doesn't even really play WR

Thomas is a 4.4 guy as is Shorts. And your right I missed one, Dillard isn’t a 4.4 guy either.

BTW, it’s alot more to football speed than 40 time. See Matt Jones

Really??? then why this comment:

Jags needs speed at WR and he’s got some wheels

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

I would probably take Mcnutt

I like Quick but I think Mcnutt is not as fast but much more polished. Jones and Robinson are more of later round guys but I’d take either or even both.

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 6:19 PM EST up reply actions

Honestly

I would avoid all of those players in the second round.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 10:45 PM EST up reply actions

hes a good player

best pass rushing ability in the draft IMO outside of maybe whitney mercilus

Cold Blooded

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 28, 2012 7:08 PM EST up reply actions

Best pure

pass rusher is probably Nick Perry. Curry kind of reminds me of our own Jeremy Mincey. Both have similar size and motors with tighter ankles. I think like Mincey, I think it will take Curry a few years to develop, so he can learn how to use his hands and gain more savvy.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:03 PM EST up reply actions

because him and thomas are the same same base on the pecking order of the offense

but i think joe adams has better hands and much more explosive than mike thomas. I just think he’s more dangerous in space, can get more seperation and therefore, with gene smith on a rampage to fix the receiver’s group this offseason he is going to want to draft more playmakers.

by leopold332002 on Jan 28, 2012 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

yes he did but when you have a owner who's worth over 3 billion dollars

he can easily cut a plaer who we only gave a 9 million garauteed extension especially if we can upgrade the position.

by leopold332002 on Jan 28, 2012 6:44 PM EST up reply actions

because we had a former owner who signed off on decisions base on his emotions

instead of letting the situation play out. I will always love wayne weaver and his loyalty to the city of Jacksonville but he has made some questionable decisions during his tenure as a owner.

by leopold332002 on Jan 28, 2012 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

Adams

doesn’t have better hands.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:05 PM EST up reply actions

Egnew

may not be much of an overall TE, but he’s got some really good hands. But watching how Coffman’s career has turned out so far kind of scares me, because they are really similar, despite the injury.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:07 PM EST up reply actions

I think that would be a good pick up

I could also get on board with Fleener in the 3rd, if we are talking TEs

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

Let's avoid drafting

non-special TE’s until the third day, because there is depth and very little difference after the first couple TE’s in every draft.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:09 PM EST up reply actions

He's not

Jimmy Graham or The Gronk(Who I was a fan of since his freshman year at AZ)
You can find guys with Fleener-like ability in the 5th or even 6th round: Ladarius Green and Michael Egnew for instance.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 30, 2012 6:18 AM EST up reply actions

I agree

Adams looks good running routes plus he has the speed to go deep, I think he would be great in the slot can’t really see him outside though.

Criner, as stated above, will be a steal.

by Sylvester.The.Jaguar.fan on Jan 28, 2012 7:12 PM EST up reply actions

unfortunately i think criner played himself out of steal status

he was the most impressive wide out at the senior bowl(other than adams) i wouldnt be suprised if he was a second or third round pick now

Cold Blooded

by Jaggaholic82 on Jan 28, 2012 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

Criner was never going to be a “steal”.

by Alfie Crow on Jan 28, 2012 7:54 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

If I had to draft anybody from this bowl it would e: Joe Adams, Isiah Pead, Vinny Curry and Quick.

by Catfanatic1979v1 on Jan 28, 2012 7:11 PM EST reply actions

I would slow down

on Quick. I’d prefer someone that can quickly assimilate, and Quick needs to develop a lot.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:11 PM EST up reply actions

One of my fav

prospects in this draft, especially at RB. Been wanting to draft Pead for 3 years.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:11 PM EST up reply actions

He has great open feild jukes and overall lateral quickness

Wouldnt mind him but now we would have to take him probably in the 3rd so I dont think we’ll bother

by Jermaside4 on Jan 29, 2012 11:19 AM EST up reply actions

How was vinny Curry?

"HULU: An evil plot to destroy the world. Enjoy"

The Problem with our Wide recievers is that they're never wide open and they have trouble receiving the ball...

by TheTealDeal on Jan 28, 2012 10:47 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Not bad

but he didn’t jump out at you either.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 28, 2012 11:12 PM EST up reply actions

2 tackles (granted it was on QB's behind the los)

one of which was a gift. I’m not hating. He’s one of my fav’s, he just didn’t have the day Coples did.

by Ewdtrey on Jan 30, 2012 6:25 AM EST up reply actions

Coples

I came into this week with a lower opinion on Coples skillset. That has completely changes. He was impressive.
