WalterFootball.com's WR Free Agent Rankings

http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2012WR.php

Sorry if this has already been posted. Here are the Top 10 Walter Football has listed:

  1. Mike Wallace, PIT
  2. Dwayne Bowe, KC
  3. Vincent Jackson, SD
  4. Wes Welker, NE
  5. Steve Johnson, BUF
  6. Brandon Lloyd, STL
  7. Marques Colston, NO
  8. DeSean Jackson, PHI
  9. Mario Manningham, NYG
  10. Reggie Wayne, IND
I know a few of these guys will be resigned by their own teams, but I don't think it's unreasonable for the Jaguars to sign two of these 10. My personal choices are Bowe and Manningham. They would free the Jags up to take a DE, OL, or CB at No. 7 and draft a WR in the later rounds. Thoughts?

We will see how gene spends khan $

But at this point wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t sign anyone on this top 10 list

Bowe and Manningham

My thoughts exactly. Then we can get some late round guys like marvin jones, and Joe Adams. If we are somehow able to trade away mike thomas, id also like to sign anthony gonzalez. Great talent that should be both available and cheap. If we could keep him healthy hed be a great roleplayer.

Why are people so convinced

that we are moving on from Thomas? We JUST re-signed him. I don’t love him, but we gave him a pretty good contract.

I have no idea.

I guess last season rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and they completely forgot what he did his first two seasons. Granted his first two years weren’t spectacular but they were something to build on and with more weapons to draw a defenses attention, I think he’ll pick up right where he left off.

I really like your positive attitude on the players we have

Sometimes we’re on the same side, sometimes opposite, but you’re almost always defending every single player we have. Love your enthusiasm. Think you should look at the reality of things though, when it comes to upgrading a position at the cost of said player’s job. “Granted his first two years weren’t spectacular”….players that are spectacular you treat like are spectacular by giving them extensions and guaranteeing starting positions – this is how you let them know they’re playing towards or at that next level and should be rewarded. Unspectacular but something to build on is what we’ve had for a very long time. Too much potential not enough production. Saying we should give guys like Gabbert and Alualu a break is much different from saying we should give guys like Thomas a break. Thomas should be very concerned about playing somewhere else, IMO.

If you say so.

I don’t defend a player unless I think there is a legitimate reason to do so. I’ve been one of the people here, that on a number of occasions, have stated his distaste for the amount of effort Thomas displayed last season. You say I should look at the reality of the situation and reality is, Thomas has proven that he can be a good player in this league. Seems most forget that before last season, M80 was prepped to be one of the premier players in the passing game before the QB debacle of last season. If an upgrade can be found, then so be it. We’re just going to have to agree to disagree here because I think Thomas will be a Jaguar next year.

The reason I want to trade him is because we did resign him.

I was actually one of the first guys to start mentioning trading Thomas. There are a lot of things that didn’t go Thomas’ way last year, but most of them were actually his fault. He’s good as a role players, but not a guy who got a 3 year extension for 18 million. We’re paying him like a high end number two. I’d rather give that same exact money to Mario Manningham, and trade him away while he has any value. Right now the rest of the league sees a bad offense in general, and doesn’t really know that it’s fair to place any blame on him. Anyone who watched him closely will see him giving up on routes routinely, while dropping a large amount of catchable passes at crucial points in games that could have been a difference maker. I’d say we could get a good 3-5th rounder if we fish enough from teams that are looking for both a slot WR and a KR. I’d rather have Bowe, Manningham, Gonzalez, Rookie, than have Thomas anywhere in there. Great role player his first two years but not worth the cost.

I'm not saying I want to keep Thomas

I just don’t think we would have re-signed him if we didn’t like him. Also, is another team really ready to take on his “high end number two” contract?

by CheapSeat on Jan 30, 2012 9:51 AM EST up reply actions

Hard to say...

who and for what, but if Gene can get a 5th for Groves, he should be able to trade Thomas somewhere (I think he could get a 4th) if he decided to.

by kjones407 on Jan 30, 2012 2:48 PM EST up reply actions

I think...

you are overstating the amount of drops he had. What more are you expecting from him than to be a great role player? Anyone who comes in and replaces him will be expected to come and be the same thing. So what’s the point in replacing him?

by kjones407 on Jan 29, 2012 3:25 PM EST reply actions

Bowe and Manningham?

I think its crazy that people on here are attacking thomas for his “drops” and then want to spend big bucks on other receivers that are known to drop the ball as well(bowe, and manningham) Personally if it was me, and I was going on the thought that we would sign 2 FA WR’s, and then draft either a CB,LB, or T in the draft at 7th, I would say lets go for Wallace, and Jackson> Both are burners, and both catch the ball well, I think Jackson and Wallace will command more money then any of the others on the list, but if we are serious about winning, and getting there quickly, these are the guys!!!!! Then pick Reiff, or Adams at 7th, a CB in the second, a WR in the third, a DE in the fourth, and another WR in the fifith. I think with the addition of another Tackle in the first, our O line should be good to go, as we can get rid of whimper, and let britton and rackley fight it out for the guard spot, and we still have a few good guys left for depth(spitz, Bradfield etc)> Our Defense should be great again next year, as we should have either some guys that are healthy, or if they continue to be injury plagued, then we should just release them and let the younger guys get in there, as depth

two quick points

1)Mike Wallace is an RFA and is not leaving Pitt. It is plain and simple.
2)There is something known as formatting. It might be a foreign concept to you, but it really helps make whatever you have to say lot easier to read.

12.Laurent Robinson, WR, Cowboys. Age: 27.
13.Robert Meachem, WR, Saints. Age: 27.
14.Braylon Edwards, WR, 49ers. Age: 29.
15.Danny Amendola (RFA), WR, Rams. Age: 26.
16.Ted Ginn, WR/KR, 49ers. Age: 27.

21.Eddie Royal, WR/PR, Broncos. Age: 26.

I’d go Dwayne Bowe and maybe a cheap punt on returner Eddie Royal who has been regressing in Denver (can’t think why)

What could of happened; did.

Just saying....

Manningham just can’t stay healthy…and he generally is only successful when he has two other good WRs around him (forcing man to man coverage)….no thank you. Brandon Lloyd isn’t happening either (if we go by history) and I’m not sure if Colston is as good as advertised or is it just the offense that they have…
