Very interesting

I think this makes the 2009 draft a candidate for best of the decade. Maybe not a winner, but 3 possible future pro-bowlers is a pretty damn good draft.

lol

if monroe, knighton, and cox, do in fact make pro bowls than I think it would be the best

Let's not forget

Jennings and a possible breakout career from Zach Miller.

That’s a very, very big if.

Was there

a better Jaguars draft in the 2000s? Maybe 2002 (Henderson, Peterson, Ayodele, Garrard) or 2006 (Lewis and Jones-Drew), but 2009 was probably better in terms of quantity.

by acedarney on Jan 5, 2012 9:57 AM EST up reply actions

2002 was Pearson

not Peterson. You could make an argument for 2004 (Daryl Smith, Greg Jones, Ernest Wilford, Josh Scobee, and Bobby McCray). It just hurts having the 1st round pick bust.

Thanks

Typo? Freudian slip? Either way, thanks for the correction. You have a point there, but the bust at the top does indeed hurt. I suppose the two second rounders make up for it though, as they’re two of the best at their positions.

Clearly he isn’t, because Pro Football Focus said he’s not.

Just like David Garrard was a Top 10 QB.

... hating on Cox?

despite the fact that once he did got in the game (especially with Mathis) is when the defense really turned around. The kid’s good, maybe not great or pro bowl worthy, but certainly good.

well he is a J.A.G.uar

Interesting stat

This is the sort of thing that happens when you draft guys with potential and allow them to develop. I expect we’ll see more instances of this.

That's the funny thing though...when Cox was healthy he was almost always playing man to man...and he's one hell of a man to man corner. His struggles, in my opinion come when he's forced to play zone.
